Treloy Touring Park: Pool area

General

  • Sheltered family-friendly site powered by sustainable solar power
  • Countryside setting, 10 minutes’ drive from Newquay's beaches
  • Modern facilities including a heated outdoor pool, shop and playground

Heading to Newquay to plunge with your surfboard into the foaming waves, sample Cornish pasties and take bike rides along the seafront (among other activities)? Step forward Treloy Touring Park, a gorgeous site in the Cornish countryside and just 10 minutes’ drive from the surfing town of Newquay and its excellent beaches and coastline.

Still, the spot is tucked away from the crowds… partly why it caters exclusively to families and couples looking for an outdoor break with a touch of luxury (and a heated outdoor pool). Take your kids wildlife spotting at the nature reserve’s pond or wander down to the woodland trail too.

Holidaymakers will have access to facilities such as individual washrooms, an accessible shower room, parent and baby rooms and family bathrooms (there’s plenty of comfort there). The pitches are all generously-sized and in hedged areas.

The café/takeaway cooks delicious locally-sourced food and there’s a shop that’s handy for essentials, camping items or fresh coffees, croissants and Cornish pasties. Just take them to the terrace overlooking the kids’ play area, which has a zipwire, swings, slides and accessible basket swing. In the evening, the family-friendly Surfrider Bar has another terrace or there’s indoor seating to make or meet up with friends.

The sheltered location, only four miles from Newquay, makes this an excellent base for exploring stunning beaches, coastal paths, villages and Cornwall’s top attractions. Plus, the nearby Treloy golf course – with a driving range, nine-hole course, golf shop with club hire and a licensed clubhouse – is 15 minutes’ walk up the road and has concessionary prices for the site’s guests.

The pitches were really big which gave you lots of space for our tent, car, area to sit/have bbqs which was really good. The toilets were so clean, you would’ve thought you was in a hotel which was a massive plus. Staff were really friendly and helped anyway possible. The swimming pool was heated which was lovely and so clean. Also liked that they had the first two hours for quiet time then the rest general swim so it was quiet and nice for a morning swim. The shop was also really handy had lots of little bits that we always forgot to get which was a massive help.

    Disliked:

No dislike all we said that could’ve been better was the bar. There was no background music or anything which made it very quiet and quite boring for a bar. Maybe a bit of entertainment or even just a bit of music played in the background would’ve been better.

From the manager...

We were glad you liked the pitches, the swimming pool, shop and the staff and the facilities, and we will take on board your comments about the bar.

We just got back from a lovely holiday at Treloy. From the first moment we arrived the owners/staff made us feel so welcome. They are so polite and genuinely lovely! The site is kept beautifully with the plants and flowers all looking fresh and cared for. The shop is well stocked and the pool is clean and warm. I could not fault the showers either -they are so clean and well maintained, I felt very comfortable. Our electric tent pitch was lovely - a good size to fit our tent, gazebo and van on with great views across the hills. We even logged into the internet and it was great reception! All in all a 10 star experience for us. Thankyou to the staff at Treloy and keep up the excellent work!

one of the best campsites we have visited over the past few years. reminded me much of my childhood camping in Newquay. Facilities were great, modern, and kept clean, staff were helpful, friendly, and accommodating. It was very safe and our Kids enjoyed explorring. Something we wouldn't normally allow at home.

Swimming pool was Amazing and together with the cafe Pizza's were the highlight of the whole trip for the Kids

    Disliked:

You can't choose your neighbors, but in a campsite, noise travels further. One night we had to endure one overly loud couple revealing their rear-end sexual anticks with the couple/friends camped opposite them. at least 5 times. think the other couple may have been embarrassed by this conversation as they went quiet and quickly left the site the following morning. We are still unaware if your 11yr old was asleep or heard the whole thing as went to bed just as the "geordie shore" level of conversation started. very disturbing conversation. the next day we had a lady twice the distance arguing with others at 2 am. Camping can be noisy I get that and isn't Treloys fault. but Patrols are clearly needed but would most likely result in a backlash

Lady on reception single handedly ruined our stay.03/09/2022

Shower facilities were nice, also very clean.

    Disliked:

Staff, rudeness, not all staff, but the lady on reception was both vulgar on the phone when we requested some assistance finding them, to the point where she hung up on us twice, and then on arrival, if it wasn't for the fact we had driven 11 hours, in august, when everywhere else was full, we would have turned around there and then and gone elsewhere.

Other staff were perfectly amenable and polite, the older chap on reception that afternoon/evening was a pleasure, i just wish we had needed to check in when he was on.

She was unhelpful, she was rude, she was abrupt, all in all a disgusting experience and genuinely put such a sour taste in our mouths that every time we were driving back to the site there was just a gloomy mood in the car.

On her alone, i would not recommend.

We loved this park! The kids couldn't keep away from the play area, they said it was the best one they've been to on a campsite! Pool was fantastic! We really enjoyed that you could go to the pool whenever you liked as opposed to sessions which some campsites are continuing to offer since lockdown. The shop on sote was stocked up with everything you may need, however Morrisons and Lidl are a 5/10 minute drive! The aerospace museum up the road is definitely worth the visit! Camels Creek theme park is 15 mins away and us and the kids both loved that! Had a great holiday here at Treloy and will definitely be back in the future 😁

Local attractions

Treloy is in a first-class location whether your interests are coast- or countryside-based, with fishing, golfing, cycling and main attractions like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan all within easy reach.

One or more of the 11 beaches in and around Newquay will be most holidaymakers’ first stop. Family beaches such as Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are a few minutes’ drive from Treloy: both Mawgan and Watergate are lifeguarded in the summer and Watergate has safe swimming areas for kids.

On land, Newquay and its surroundings have plenty going on too: try Trenance Gardens, part of Trenance Leisure Park and with more than enough to tire the kids out with a boating lake, crazy golf, play areas, nature trails, a maze, the flumes and pools of Waterworld and one of the miniature trains, the Little Western Railway, of the Lappa Valley Steam Railway.

Award-winning DairyLand Farm World and the Blue Reef Aquarium should hold the attention of even the most fidgety youngster, but if not, Crealy Great Adventure Park is less than half an hour away at Wadebridge, and Flambards Theme Park 25 miles away in Helston.

Kids thoroughly tired out? Onto more grownup activities such as an evening at Newquay’s theatre or four-screen cinema, or angle for some fishing: coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir, a mile from Treloy, or a half/full day sea fishing trip from Newquay harbour.

The South West Coast Path runs behind Watergate Bay – hike from here to Mawgan Porth or the 10 miles to Porthcothan – and for two-wheelers, the Padstow to Wadebridge leg of the Camel Trail is an easy traffic-free 5 mile cycle. You might even want to – ssh – take the kids along on that one…
