  • Quiet, family-friendly pop-up next to woodland on a Surrey Hills farm
  • South Downs National Park 30 minutes’ drive, and Box Hill 25 minutes
  • Dogs welcome and direct access to walks; pubs 15 minutes’ walk
When all you want is peace and lots of countryside in which to wander, the answer is simple: make a beeline for Draysey Woods Nature Escape. This small family pop-up site sits on a farm 10 minutes’ walk from Ockley in the Surrey Hills National Landscape – it’s not a place to head for if you’re after entertainment and lots of music; this is a quiet site providing simple pleasures like long rambles through the fields and dog walks in woodland. The site is level and backed by trees; there’s masses of room for family games of football and general running around. Handy facilities include hot showers and clean flushable toilets, washing-up sinks, picnic tables and an undercover games area. Near the site, you can scramble up to Leith Hill's landmark tower from Leith Hill Place Car Park (10 minutes’ drive) to absorb views across the Surrey Hills to the South Downs National Park (half an hour). There are also lots of National Trust properties for you to discover in about half an hour’s drive, and when you’ve had your fill of local heritage, there are two pubs within 15 minutes’ stroll of the site and several others within 10 minutes by car.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Amazing campsite! This was our second time staying. The owners are super friendly and thoughtful and have really worked hard to think of everything they can to make this campsite relaxing and close to nature.
- Most of the site is left un-mowed as meadow to encourage grasshoppers, butterflies and other pollinators, giving peaceful views and biodiversity, but there is also ample mowed space to find a quiet pitch for your tent.
- Showers and toilets are clean and well stocked, there's a good washing-up area, and even a covered seating area that can be used in bad weather.
- Beautiful woodland attached to the site gives space to explore, and having no cars on the field means it is peaceful and child friendly.
- New features are being added regularly (log seating appeared while we were there!) as the owners have a good vision for comfortable but nature based camping.
- Couple of good pubs in walking distance of the site that both do food, and a small shop for emergency snacks. Dorking a short drive away, as well as Leith Hill and an excellent pub called The Parrot.
Would highly recommend- beautiful family run campsite that we will return to!

Disliked Because large areas of the field are meadowland, there is a lot of insect life - so be prepared for bugs!

Hayley was a great host and checked in on guests. The kids had a great time. Showers were clean and warm.
