  • Quiet, off-grid pop-up Surrey site 15 minutes’ drive from Farnham
  • Thorpe Park 40 minutes’ drive and Legoland Windsor Resort 45 minutes
  • Grass pitches with Surrey Hills views; woodland walks from the site
If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to hang out within easy striking distance of London, try the pop-up site at Highfield Heights Camping. This handy spot is 15 minutes’ drive from Farnham, which in turn is 50 minutes by train from London Waterloo station. With neatly mown pitches in an assortment of fields, you’ll be surrounded by leafy landscapes with amazing views stretching to the Surrey Hills – and a whole world away from any city bustle. Simple and off-grid the site may be, but it provides access to toilets, hot showers and a private bath, plenty of space so you can have a wander around the fields, and lots of woodland walks nearby where you and any doggy companions can have a stretch of legs and paws. With the proximity of Legoland Windsor Resort and Thorpe Park, it's easy to keep the kids amused at this handy budget spot. If you’re after pubs and restaurants, you can find them in Farnham, along with supermarkets and delis if you’re catering for yourselves.

Liked Rachel was incredible helpful and lovely, was allowed to choose a site with shade given the 30 plus heat, even given a long extension lead as mine didn't quite reach. Highly recommend. Pub 15 minutes walk away with good food even if the beer was a bit on the expensive side. Will visit again.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Lovely warm welcome, plenty of space and choice of where to pitch up. Horses were gorgeous

Disliked I was wary of the dog having been attacked and when it wandered down to meet us alone it put me off trying the shower facilities.
Access to field a tiny bit problematic

From the manager: Good morning Thank you for your review. I’m glad you find us friendly and we do have plenty pitch and we have lovely views and outlooks Creed is always under control. He is a very friendly dog and he’s fantastic with adults and children. However I do apologise for him coming down to the campsite he’s always under control and if you stay with us that was a very brief encounter. I wish you would’ve mentioned to me because you would’ve had no worries to have used the facilities as he is alwalys away and under control .
Thanks
Rach.

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Lovely hosts. Great amenities and easy field for pitching a tent. A lovely stop for walkers on the pilgrims way.

Disliked Sometimes a light came on at night that shone through the tent. Could be some washing up bowls and sponge to buy.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Freya thank you for your review. We are getting new washing up stations. I would’ve happily helped and given you some sponges or bowls. Please come and stay with us any time you wish it was a pleasure to have you both.
There is a sensor light that comes on I think sometimes the bunnies hop around and put the sensor lights on sorry for this .
Thanks Rachel xx

Local attractions

Finding family stuff to do when staying at Highfield Heights Camping is never going to be a problem. You can take your offspring to feed the comical penguins at Birdworld (15 minutes’ drive) or follow the Gruffalo trail in Alice Holt Forest (20 minutes), where there’s also lakeside climbing frames and picnic spots. Older kids can also try out the treetop rope courses at Go Ape Alice Holt (25 minutes). However, chances are you’re going to be nagged until you promise them a day at Legoland Windsor Resort (45 minutes), with its thrill rides and worldwide landmarks in miniature. Thorpe Park (40 minutes) is another popular local attraction, offering plenty of adrenaline-inducing rollercoasters as well as waterslides. If you have any time left over for yourself, you can tour the Georgian elegance of Jane Austen’s House (25 minutes), where the renowned writer penned ‘Pride and Prejudice’. You may care to step further back in time at the photogenic ruins of medieval Waverley Abbey (five minutes), sitting on a meander in the River Wey and home to a yew tree thought to be thousands of years old.
