  • Scenic and spacious site on a working arable farm in the Kent Downs
  • Canterbury, Eurotunnel services and ferries within 20 minutes' drive
  • Spacious pitches with direct access to local walks; dogs welcome
Perhaps you’re travelling to Kent to spend some time exploring the area known as the ‘Garden of England’, or you just need a stopover before heading across the Channel. Maybe you’ve got the whole family with you, or your partner and dog – or you’re on a little solo break. Whatever kind of Kent camping break you’ve got in mind, you’ll be very welcome at Blandred Camping. You’ll be in an excellent location for both local jaunts and onward travel when you stay here – this spacious site is part of a working arable farm within the Kent Downs National Landscape, and you’ll be able to get straight out onto local footpaths for walks and bike rides to see some of your scenic surroundings. Despite the peaceful rural vibe on site, this is a very handy Kent location – Folkestone is about 10 minutes’ drive away, or you can reach either Canterbury or Dover within 20 minutes. And, of course, that means that cross-Channel ferries and Eurotunnel trains are very close by for those heading over to France. Sticking around on this side of the Channel? There are plenty of great days out nearby, whether you’re planning to take in the coastline, explore historic Canterbury or treat the kids to a day at a safari park. A bus stop at the end of the lane has services to Canterbury and Folkestone; routes that also handily stop outside a couple of favourite local pubs. This is a simple site, but the facilities (hot showers, flushing toilets and a cold-water washing-up area) are nicely maintained, and there’s plenty of space to pitch up and play games. Campfires and barbecues are welcome, but no music, thanks – this is a peaceful kind of place.

What customers say

Clean, quiet, well-kept site with spacious spots & great amenities (spotless washrooms, good hot water). Friendly staff, ideal for ferries. Bonus: onsite pub! Minor cons: no music, longer walk to shop. Hot water now at sinks.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Big pitches, mostly level or close enough! Toilets and showers were clean, with loads of space, plenty of loo roll and soap, and really good hot water in the shower at a good pressure.

Welcome was super friendly and chilled, including one of the best reminder emails we’ve ever seen two days before.

Location was quiet, easy enough to find and worked beautifully for a stop over before catching the ferry from Dover. Next time we will arrive before the micro pub closes hopefully!

Liked Loved the location, very tidy. Clean facilities. Walked to the fantastic micro pub. Great stay we recommend.

Disliked Only slight issue was it could do with more showers and toilets for the amount of people staying there.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Absolutely loved my stay, toilets and showers were very clean and thought the separate hose to clean shower after use was fantastic many other sites should adopt this idea. Having the micro brewery next to site with great burgers and live music was a bonus. No vehicle movement between 10pm and 7am great, plus no music on site

Disliked No complaints

Local attractions

Canterbury (20 minutes’ drive) is a special city that’s always worth a day out, whether you’ve been before or not. The cathedral, Roman Museum and Canterbury Tales exhibition are top picks for first timers, but there are lots more attractions beyond those – perhaps the Beaney House of Art & Knowledge, or an afternoon of punting along the river? Down at the coast, take a wander around Folkestone (10 minutes) to find all its outdoor art installations and scoff seafood at Folkestone Harbour Arm. You can also paddle or build sandcastles at the town’s Sunny Sands beach, or head along to Dover (20 minutes) for the castle and the famous white cliffs. For a family day out, meet exotic animals at Wingham Wildlife Park or Port Lympne Safari Park, or take a ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway – all are about 20 minutes’ drive away.
