  • Peaceful Hampshire farm stay in the South Downs National Park
  • Birdworld 15 minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Winchester
  • Pitches with firepits; pizza nights and weekend coffee shop
Set on a Hampshire working farm, Manor Farm Camping is a peaceful site offering a relaxed countryside retreat with pitches mown into long grass for privacy. Surrounded by open farmland and scenic walking routes, it’s a great base for anyone looking to slow down and just relish being outdoors. You can get a taste of farm life by meeting the resident chickens and ducks (and lambs in spring), while still having access to well-maintained facilities. Each pitch comes with its own firepit and barbecues can be hired – so that's your cosy evenings under the stars sorted. Hot showers, clean toilets and a washing-up are all on hand too for a comfortable stay. The on-site coffee shop opens on Saturdays and Sundays, so you can kickstart your weekend with a caffeine boost, and the small shop is stocked with essentials, local produce and ice cream. Friday night is communal pizza night; the site owners are happy to show you how to cook in a stone-baked oven. This site is up at the northern end of the South Downs National Park, with plenty of footpaths and bike trails nearby for those who'd like to explore the scenery – and the good news is that several traditional pubs are easily accessed on foot too. For other outings, ride the Watercress Line, meet colourful creatures at Birdworld or step into history with a wander around Winchester.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Lovely site with great facilities! Children loved seeing the farm birds roaming and enjoyed rounding the chickens up for bed. Would have been 10 stars but there were water issues in the surrounding area (through no fault of their own) so was unable to enjoy one of their recommended coffees. Would happily return!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fiona was so helpful and welcoming, we were kindly allowed the pitch overlooking the field with a view of the landscape, and it was beautiful and felt quite private! The farm has good vibes. Wheelbarrows are provided but it’s only a short walk to the pitch. Facilities were perfect and clean. It was our favourite site of the four we visited on our road trip, I would definitely stay again!

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked A lovely campsite with a well-prepared area for campfires and barbecues, ideal for tents and offering plenty of natural shade from around midday onwards. The nearby car park, together with the quality wheelbarrows provided, makes moving camping gear to and from the pitch effortless.

The facilities are clean, and the drinking water tap, housed in an old but charming trailer, is a particularly nice touch. The self-service honesty shop is another thoughtful addition. We didn't make use of it ourselves - as birdwatchers, we were usually out before 7 a.m. - but having the option to pre-order products is very convenient.

The owner, Fiona, is welcoming, helpful, and easy to reach by phone or WhatsApp. The resident rooster and three exceptionally friendly hens are a real highlight.

For birdwatchers, the site has plenty to offer, with daily serenades from a Yellowhammer, patrolling Red kite, a resident Goldcrest, and a very vocal charm of Goldfinches.

Disliked Nothing major - just a few minor points. There is only one toilet. This wasn't an issue during our stay, as we visited midweek and before the school holidays, so we were either the only campers or shared the facilities with just one other tent. However, I can imagine it becoming a bottleneck when the campsite is busier.

There are four showers, although they provide only cold water.

Cloth hand towels are hung throughout the property. While they look very nice, they are not a particularly hygienic solution. There are also bottles of hand soap available. I appreciate that these are provided as a courtesy, but if they are provided, they should be refilled regularly. Empty soap bottles create a poor impression.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked We stayed on a Campervan pitch. It was a lovely place and the host is brilliant. As it was Friday night, it was communal pizza oven night, which was great. Definitely planning to go again. We also pre-ordered pastries for the morning which was a great touch and there is a real high quality coffee shop next door that opens at 9am.
