General

  • Adults-only campsite just a few minutes' drive from the M27
  • Romsey 10 minutes' drive; Winchester city centre 25 minutes
  • Pet-friendly camping in the grounds of an equestrian centre

Woodington Training Centre is a rural adults-only campsite in Hampshire in a convenient location just a few minutes' drive from the M27. This pet-friendly spot in the village of Woodington is easy to reach from attractive local towns and cities like Romsey (10 minutes' drive) and Winchester (just under half an hour) and is just under two miles from the edge of the New Forest National Park.

This laidback site is set in the grounds of a local equestrian centre and is very pet-friendly, so feel free to bring well-behaved dogs along for the ride. The facilities at Woodington Training Centre are simple, but off-site amenities including shops and pubs are within easy reach just down the road in the village centre.

The surrounding area is excellent for active outdoor breaks, and there are ample opportunities for pursuits such as fishing, horseback riding, walking and cycling nearby. Heading north on the A36, it's also easy to explore Salisbury, Stonehenge and Avebury in southern Wiltshire, while some of Dorset's best sandy beaches can be driven to in three quarters of an hour or less.

Small and peaceful campsite. There is only one toilet but it was kept very clean. The owner was very friendly and gave us some local recommendations but also left us to come and go as we pleased. He was also very welcoming of our dog! Easy to find and relaxed atmosphere, would stay again!

This is a very basic place to camp, which is exactly what you pay for really. We camped for two nights and it was ideal for us being on a budget. There is only a portaloo within the field however it is one of the cleanest portaloos I have used. The man on reception was super lovely and told us where to get water on site and the nearest pubs. It was about a 20 min drive to the water park and the cycling place we went to within the new forest, so it’s not too far away from anything either.

The warm welcome offered by Maurice, and the tips about the locality. The peaceful nature of the site (apart from a small amount of noise from an adjacent road which the owners have no control over)
It had the feel of wild camping, which we love, was within easy reach of the new forest, Romsey and Winchester, and was a delightful place to spend four nights.
We also liked being able to leave at our leisure, which meant we could dry out our tents before packing them away
