  • Peaceful site in a hamlet on the edge of a traditional village
  • A 10-minute drive to Fordingbridge and the New Forest National Park
  • Half a mile to the local pub via a footpath; walkers' paradise
Getting back to basics is the aim of the game at Ladybird Farm, made up of grassy paddocks set in a small hamlet on the edges of the traditional English village of Rockbourne. Attractions and activities at this Hampshire park are focused on its natural surroundings, with peaceful vibes boosted by a no-noise policy after dark and the facilities extending to toilets and two showers. Local walks are easily accessed too at this site in the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs National Landscapes, on the network of footpaths snaking through the surrounding countryside. A row of thatched cottages following the line of the river flowing through the valley is a minute's stroll from the site too and a pub serving food and booze is a short saunter away. If you fancy bringing a bit of decadence to your break by dining out for every meal, a couple of other inns are in the villages of Damerham and Whitsbury, both about a five-minute drive or under a 45-minute walk via a car-free trail. Restaurants are in Fordingbridge just on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park (10 minutes’ drive), along with a cinema, a park on the Avon and a supermarket. To source food nearer the park, a village shop is at Sandleheath a five-minute drive away: bag supplies for the barbecue and cook them up while you get toasty by one of the site’s firepits (with logs available to buy on base).

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Great location, surrounded by peaceful countryside. The facilities are perfect for an off grid stay - clean bathrooms, hot showers and the camp kitchen is a lovely bonus. The owners are friendly and the pitches are huge.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked From the time I booked to the minute we left the Farm, Hannah was on hand to offer help and make sure we had everything we needed. Sending us exact location details via what3words to make sure we ended up in the right field and not in the neighbours front garden, providing fire pits and logs to toast the all important marshmallows.

If you want a campsite that is friendly, quiet and most importantly not formulaic like many of the campsites these days, then Ladybird Farm is for you. A camp kitchen where you can do the washing up or even cook your own meals and sit down at the table, allows you to share stories and meet fellow campers and learn all the tips for local visits. The toilet / shower facilities are modelled on a gypsy caravan style. Corrugated iron and a unique shower but clean and hot water.

Ladybird Farm is a popup farm operating only 60 days per year so make sure you don't miss out.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Lovely peaceful site, Hannah couldn't be more helpful. The outdoor kitchen was really well equipped and facilities were clean and well laid out.
We stayed during school holidays and although it was quite busy the pitches are spread out over 3 areas so didn't feel too crowded. Overall, a great pop up site which we plan to visit again soon.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great long weekend spent at Ladybird Farm - lovely peaceful site. Plenty of space and not too busy even for a BH.
The kitchen and WCs/Shower facilities were good and kept in good clean order. Fire Pits available to Hire too:)
Hannah was very helpful and good at recommending local pubs/attractions.
Rose and Thistle pub (10min walk) did excellent food and really good service!

An idyllic and calming place to pitch for a night or more.

Local attractions

Stonehenge is within a half an hour drive's and other historical places of interest are close by – including the Rockbourne Roman Villa Museum just 15 minutes’ walk away. Breamore House (10 minutes) is a prime place if you prefer your outings to include a glimpse of a country pile’s stately paintings and furniture, while the New Forest Water Park (15 minutes) has modern facilities like a wakeboarding centre and inflatable aqua park as well as places to kayak using the available equipment. For swimming instead of paddleboarding, the sandy sweep of Bournemouth beach is 35 minutes south and is reachable on a scenic journey that goes through the lush green Moors Valley Country Park & Forest. If you’d rather stick to the area’s old-school offerings, Salisbury and its spectacular cathedral are about 20 minutes’ drive away and the ancient town of Ringwood with a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages takes 25 minutes to reach. And of course, there’s not much in the area more ancient than the New Forest, created by William I in about 1079 for royal hunts...
