  • Lively Hampshire family farm site with easy access from M3 and A303
  • A 20-minute drive to Winchester and Watercress Line railway
  • Café, farm shop and brewery taproom with weekend food trucks
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of a long drive along country lanes? Get yourselves along to Dummer Down Farm, in a handy Hampshire location that’s easily accessed from the M3 and A303 (thereby also making it a good place to consider for a stopover on a longer journey…) There’s a real buzz about this lively place, which is just outside the pretty village of Dummer and within 20 minutes’ drive of Winchester and Basingstoke. It’s not just a campsite at this family farm – there’s also a farm shop, a café (with a terrace looking out over the fields) and a brewery, where you can finish your day off with a pint of fresh local beer in the taproom next door or pick up something to eat from one of the local food trucks that park here at weekends. If you’d rather do the self-catering thing, stop by at the market garden to see what sort of fresh organic veg they’ve got for sale that day. A convenience store is about a mile and a half away for any other bits you need to go with your dinner. Working up an appetite for these meals and drinks should be easy, as there’s some great walking and cycling to be done directly from the farm as well as plenty of places to have a day out (including wanders around Winchester, animal encounters at Marwell Zoo and grownup trips to see wine and gin in production). Facilities in the field include toilets, a washing-up area, drinking water taps and a chemical disposal point. Dogs are welcome to join you for a stay here.

What customers say

A clean, peaceful site with friendly staff and lots of space. The cafe, farm shop & brewery with live music are popular. Basic amenities but clean toilets. Some find event noise & price a bit much, but overall highly recommended.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Nothing.

Disliked No contact from organisers. No pre warning there was a festival happening. No signage to say where the site is or the camping field. No answer on number provided. Staff in surrounding businesses didn’t have a clue about the camp site. Porta loo were disgusting and smelt awful. Found a random sink and toilet on the business site which were also filthy and smelly. A full week before the event I was calling site to cancel the second booking I had but no response. Exceptionally disappointed. This could be a fantastic site if managed better.

From the manager: Dear Chloe, Thank you for taking the time to review our site. We are sorry that you felt let down by communication and facilities. We've checked back to make sure we had acknowledged your booking and can confirm that you were sent a site map and instructions along with arrival details of facilities, the cafe and brewery opening times on 28th April at 15:35.

Saturday was originally intended as a festival starting at 2pm but was scaled back to just four folk singers/bands playing acoustically from 4pm until 10pm in the barn, which now forms part of our offering with our new courtyard, which most people really love. The farm was opened up for camping as many interested music lovers wanted to stay the night.

As it had been raining I can only imagine the farm toilets, which are on the site map sent to you, were not up to scratch and this is something we will address and sincerely apologise for. We have plans to build a separate toilet and shower block in due course.

Dummer Down Farm is a family run site and with young children in tow sometimes we just can't get to the phone in time and again we apologise for this.

Will return to this site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The campsite was relatively quiet and conveniently located nr m3, but also quiet and secluded enough. There is a nice cafe on site which does great cakes. Some football goals, which was great with the boys. We also happened to go when a folk event was taking place, so enjoyed some live music and a freshly made pizza from a van.

Disliked No shower block.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location and venue, situated next to a great brewery and cafe.
Friendly and modern vibe although basic amenities.
There is a toilets int he brewery but when it's closed you have use of 4 portaloos.

Disliked Although it was checked beforehand and advised that the brewery closes at 10pm they had live music going on which went on until 1230.. Then there was the noise after which went onto about 0130 while everyone was getting taxies and leaving.

Be aware that in the evenings at the weekend it can be loud.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review and glad you liked our site.

There are additional farm toilets and small washing up area on site as part of the courtyard so apologies if you didn't manage to find these.

Apologies also for the event running over and guests being inconsiderate. We try to not book in campers when we know it may be noisy but this one must have slipped through the net.

Hopefully it won't put you off coming to see us again.
