  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View has many little touches to jazz up your break: purchase a pass at the poolside to access the indoor heated pool and paddling pool. During the high season, there is entertainment every night, as well as children's activities from 10am to 1pm every day. (In the low season, the children's activities run on weekends from 12pm to 2pm instead.) Adults can use their kids-free time to watch Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers, a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and a pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite (medium)

Liked location, views

Disliked Very poorly maintained - grass verges not mowed, hard pitches covered in weeds, lots of litter. I visited the toilets four times, only once was there soap, and they had clearly not been cleaned thoroughly - the same litter outside the mens' toilet door (which was broken) each day I was there.

There was a shop, which sounds great but the choice was pretty poor, and the food dull and unimaginative - burgers, pizza, kebab, etc.

Pool was ok and a good selling ppoint in tihs weather - but I think it ridiculous to pay a extra SIX pounds to use it - have never come across that before, and it was only open from 9-5 at the weekend - so don't plan an early morning swim before breakfast, or a dip after you've been out for the day.

No WiFi , which is not big deal, but worth being aware of.

Really unimpressed, especially for the price - it was low budget quality at mid budget price. If the owners cared about it, it could be a really lovely premium location.

Don't go if you want to relax and chill in pleasant surroundings that are well maintained (or even just moderately maintained).

Liked The area surrounding campsite lovely.

Disliked What a big disappointment! Not well maintained at all. The campsite clearly do not inspect pitches for when new campers arrive. Our pitch had no electric due to damaged post so after waiting a couple of hours we was allocated another pitch which did have electric along with dog poo, weeds, battered old kids football net and bottle lids, bent pegs and discarded towel which we had to clean up before could go onto the pitch.
The dog bin was overflowing with poo bags, bins around the site overflowing and still like that when we left. The Elsan point an absolute disgrace and a dead rat next to it.
Given the lack of basic cleanliness I didn’t use the shower facilities or would I eat any any food there.
The manager offered one night payment back for inconvenience which to date has never materialised and doubt will be.
This used to be a pleasant site, busy with good entertainment and a children’s play area which is now no longer in use and just left for nature to take over.
I certainly won’t be back.

Liked It’s nothing to do with the park. The area is very nice and longridge town has some nice bars

Disliked We’re to start. We arrived at 1.00 pm to take advantage of the afternoon. Wanting to pitch up and settle for 2.00 pm with a glass of wine and chilling.
1 first impression the pitches were full of weeds and dog poo. I spoke to the manager about this saying weed killer wouldn’t take any time spraying them. His response was it’s not like households weed killer because of people and animals. Wonder how schools and other campsites cope. Then pitches had no electricity because last person on the pitch had damaged electric hook up box. So had to wait for the boxes to be made safe and usable. I would like to add the maintenance man and reception staff were really helpful and understanding. At 3.00 pm we were able to set up see had the wine at 4.00 pm and not really chilled. The foliage behind the pitch was over grown, so the view you see when booking is none existent. Then there is the added cost of £6 per person to use the pool. If you wander down to the modernized satics it’s like walking through a local building site or tip. But on top of all of this is the manager Darren I raised all of this with him when he was available to see me on the Sunday morning. We discussed everything calmly and in an adult manner. He thanked me for the feed back and agreed to refund the cost of the Friday. Thought well there is a lot to change on this park. (O yes and the children’s park is over grown and closed )but the management is there to understand and ensure your happy. As of today no refund has hit my bank. Very disappointed with the management over this, rather than the state of the park. I always thought a persons word shows you the character of the person

Liked Club house was good

Disliked Touring pitches are tiny, full of weeds and no view at all. I had to clear 3 lots of dog poo up before we could set up. Facilities are a dive. Pool is grubby and cold. Crazy golf was unplayable. The grass at the park was about a meter high so unusable. We got food poisoning from the food at the shop.

Liked The club house was ok

Disliked The camping pitches was like it had been forgotten about full of weeds and just scruffy looking the bins were over flowing and rubbish all over , the Epsom point was absolutely shockingly filthy disgusting I’ve never seen one like it . Extremely disappointed we were also told we would get a pitch with a view of the reservoir but that definitely wasn’t what we could see . We couldn’t see past the overgrown bushes and weeds . This is not a 4*holiday park .

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
