What customers say

Cherry Clough Farm's shepherd's huts are a hit! Guests love the cozy, clean, and peaceful setting. Thoughtful extras like welcome treats and amenities, including wood burners and fire pits, are appreciated. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Many want to return for the quiet, pub-accessible location. A minor note about no freezer, but overwhelmingly positive.

Shepherd's hut

Liked I absolutely loved staying at Cherry Clough Farm. Such beautiful surroundings, views, a real haven of nature. The hut is super comfortable and has all you need. The welcome goodies and homemade cookies were wonderful. The wood burner was set up ready and kept me warm on a cooler night. Beryl and Dave were very helpful and welcoming. I loved sitting outside in the evening and watching the birds and later on the bats. I also saw a deer one morning whist Sat outside having me breakfast.

Disliked Nothing.

Shepherd's hut

Liked Location, stunning views, peace and quiet and then the hut itself - absolutely gorgeous and kitted out with everything we needed for a little break away for our anniversary. Dave greeted us and showed us how things worked on arrival and Beryl came over later on to say hello and let us know there'd been a power cut - it was no issue at all, we headed down to the pub for a bite to eat and by the time we returned, it was back on! Little touches like the Prosecco, cookies, milk and OJ were very much appreciated. We saw a fox early morning but sadly didn't spot any deer. We loved our stay and look forward to visiting again!

Shepherd's hut

Liked Everything! This is the best glamping I’ve ever been. Lovely quiet location and a short walk through fields into the village to a great little pub with lovely food. The shepherd’s hut was spotless, comfy bed, great shower, cooker, kettle log burner. There were lots of thoughtful little extras, Prosecco, water, orange juice, milk (with extra when we asked), coffee, tea, sugar, free wood and firefighters for the indoor wood burner and outdoor fire pit. The hosts John and Beryl were amazing and so friendly. We saw a family of deer in the next field several times which just made our trip more magical. A perfect end to the summer and would highly recommend.

Local attractions

At Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre (20 minutes’ drive), you can take a boat trip through the longest canal tunnel in Britain. A visitor centre illustrates the construction of this three-mile long structure, and there’s also a waterside café where you can relax and take in the views. Just outside Rochdale, Healey Dell Nature Reserve (half an hour) is the spot for those who are into industrial archaeology, with remains of centuries-old mills on the banks of the River Spodden and an imposing Victorian viaduct that you can stroll or cycle on – or under, if you don’t have a head for heights. The qualified instructors at Ski Rossendale (half an hour) will guide you through the basics of skiing and snowboarding, so you can negotiate gentle slopes with confidence. If you want to experience the thrill of sliding downhill without having to worry about staying upright, there is also tubing.
