  • Peaceful family-run park on the Cumbria coast three miles from Silloth
  • Lake District half an hour's drive; 40 minutes to Carlisle
  • Dog-friendly site with access to a long sandy beach
A west-facing site is a lovely thing, allowing you to spend the evening raising a glass (and/or a sausage from the barbecue) to the colourful sunset unfolding in front of you. The only thing that could make this picture even better? A sea view to go with your sunset… and that's exactly what you can expect at Rowanbank Caravan Park. This peaceful family-run park is on the Cumbria coast, five minutes’ drive south of Silloth and right next to a huge sandy beach that's a popular spot for fishing, dog walks and long coastal strolls. Dogs are, of course, welcome on site as well… You'll be just outside the Solway Coast National Landscape here, so there are plenty more walking options around there, or in the northern parts of the Lake District National Park, which is about half an hour's drive away. Add in a championship golf course, a go-kart track, a wildlife park and several historic sites nearby and you should have a location with something to suit most tastes when it comes to days out. This is a laidback and friendly site with simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, a washing-up area, an Elsan point and a launderette. Bring a barbecue along and you'll be able to load it with supplies from the small supermarket in Silloth, which is also a handy place to find cafés and takeaways (fish and chips on the beach, anyone?)

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: A really peaceful site, very friendly and welcoming. Although I agree with other comments about the shower block in need of a bit of an upgrade, everywhere was perfectly clean and tidy. Wonderful location, we really enjoyed our stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Clear instructions when arriving and a well maintained site. The staff were very approachable and helpful. Specifically Bob the site manager, on hand to answer any questions and went above and beyond for us when we had an issue with our trailer. He also ensured we have suitable ground for our next planned trip. Overall it was a lovely experience and would highly recommend.

Disliked: The only downside to this site is that the toilet/shower block could do with an update as it is quite dated. However it was clean and did the job.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Campsite was lovely, nice space to put the tents. Not too far a walk from the toilet block and it was clean with spacious showers and a laundry room available. The owner was friendly on arrival. It was such good value for money and will be booking again ☺️

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Easy to check in and out. Quiet and peaceful. Showers and washing facilities, while a bit dated, were in good order and clean. Right on the beach which was perfect. Dog friendly.

Disliked: I didn't really dislike anything.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: David was excellent, going beyond expectations, very friendly and helpful.
The site is a 5mins walk to the beach. Everyone on the site was friendly too.

Disliked: Showers were a bit unpredictable and went hot and cold. You are not within walking distance to a pub ( we didn’t see one anyway) but we drove into Silloth and had the best fish and chips from Marios.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: It’s a small site and very quiet at this time of year. Facilities are okay, clean and tidy, although the block is slightly dated. It’s ideal for access to the beach across the road. Siloth is only a few miles away. The pitch was hardstanding, a good size and level. There’s no wifi but we had a tv and mobile signal.

Disliked: Charging £7 a night extra for a dog seems extortionate, and means we wouldn’t stay again.
