  • Back to basics level campsite with views of the Cumbrian fells
  • Half a mile from Eskdale; three miles from the trail up Scafell Pike
  • Two minutes' walk from a dog-friendly pub with a beer garden
Eshtell Camping is a 10-acre site with spacious pitches just outside Eskdale village centre in the west of the Lake District. With excellent views over the Cumbrian fells, proximity to the trail leading up Scafell Pike and a riverside location, this family-friendly spot has a lot going for it – and is also just a two-minute walk from a dog-friendly local pub with a beer garden. Guests can park by their pitch at Eshtell Camping (ground conditions permitting); the land here is well-maintained and level. Barbecues and off-ground firepits are allowed, and although there's no running water on site you can buy bottles from the team or bring your own. In terms of toilets, this site has well-maintained portable toilets with hand-washing facilities a short distance from the pitching field. Eshtell Camping is a pet-friendly campsite, and well-behaved dogs are welcome (bins and bags for dog waste are provided). Need to stock up on supplies? Eskdale has a village stores under a mile from base, or there's an independent café a mile and three quarters in the other direction.
