What customers say
This peaceful campsite boasts a stunning location with easy access to fells and lakes, praised for its tranquil atmosphere and friendly owner. Facilities are generally considered basic but functional and regularly cleaned, with particular mention of hot showers and washing-up areas. Some visitors noted that the facilities are dated and could benefit from updating. The site offers spacious pitches in smaller fields, and its value for money is frequently highlighted. While most guests enjoyed the quiet surroundings, a few mentioned occasional noise from other campers.

Liked We booked electric grass tent pitch, the facilities we needed were all there, fresh water, showers. Sinks for dishes and toilets.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked good pitches with a lot of space, warm showers and fantastic scenery
Disliked noise curfew of 10:30 wasn't really enforced, we had multiple groups being loud well into midnight which was a bit frustrating. showers were a bit low on pressure but usable.

Liked Great campsite wasn’t busy at all, facilities were clean, hot running water for showers. Could not fault the campsite. We came on a Tuesday so could be a different story coming on a weekend. Will definitely come again, thank you.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked A lovely campsite bedded at the top of Buttermere valley - with easy access to Keswick and Lorton. It is a non-fussy, proper campsite - you turn up, call the owner who shows you your pitch and you set up camp. Showers, washing facilities, bins are all provided as well as utilities (water and electric hook-ups). Like I said, it's not fussy - so no ridiculous rules so you can relax and enjoy your stay. No wifi but was able to get 4G signal everyday with no drop-out.
Disliked At busy times, we have been twice, once at a busy bank holiday and another over a quiet easter weekday trip, the showers queues could be a problem but to be honest, other campsites are the same with showers. Female showers - my wife said were cold or intermittently warm. This may just be because of how busy the site was.

Amazing stay, works for all kinds of families, couples and singles
Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked What a lovely natural and peaceful site whinfell hall farm is, it is in such a beautiful location, which allows you to explore the side of the lakes which is not often hyped up, this is a part of the lakes I feel to be a hidden gem, it’s close to whinlatter pass which is great for numerous activities, cycling being one on some lovely trails, also close by is derwent water and such a great and lovely location that is for all the family like whinlatter. It is still within easy access and not too far from your main Lake District town that a lot will know and love.
Disliked Personally I felt the showers could do with an upgrade on the site but I appreciate this is not the case for everyone and a lot would be happy with what they experienced shower wise on site.
Another would be a better system for emptying toilet waste for campers etc that do have them.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Good camp site for price, washing areas all cleaned down daily. Areas good size. Really good location for walking areas.
Disliked When you arrive there is a number to ring however no one answers- someone already on the camp site helped us out.
People arriving and pitching up well after 11pm- it is just slightly frustrating when someone is so noisy right next to your tent - this then disturbs the dog which disturbs other people, this could be monitored more to an area to pitch up if you are going to be late. This happened two nights.

What I really liked about this…
Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked What I really liked about this campsite was the very relaxed atmosphere. It’s mostly used by families, which made it feel calm and welcoming. The surroundings are beautiful, and the quiet nights with open skies were truly wonderful.
Disliked What I didn’t like, however, was the state of the facilities. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough toilets and showers for the number of people staying on site. The cleanliness and standards of the toilets also need improvement, as they feel outdated and in need of refurbishment. In addition, hygiene levels are quite low, and the facilities should really be cleaned more frequently—not just once a day.
