The campsite
Camping field surrounded by greenery

  • Pop-up family campsite with countryside views in South Yorkshire
  • Peak District National Park five minutes’ drive; Sheffield 20 minutes
  • Grass pitches at Sheffield Tigers RUFC; space for kids' pup tents
Sports-mad families can jump at the chance to camp at South Yorkshire’s Sheffield Tigers Rugby Union Football Club ground on the outskirts of Sheffield. Pitches are on a level meadow with views towards the Peak District National Park, and there’s plenty of space for pup tents if the kids need a bit of extra room. This leafy pop-up site is springboard to hiking, cycling or climbing expeditions in the spectacular Peak District (five minutes’ drive), but if you prefer your camping holiday with a more urban vibe, turn north and head into Sheffield city centre (20 minutes) for department stores, ambles in the Winter Garden, museums, cinemas and theatre. Changing rooms and shower facilities are also available, and there’s ample space for car parking too.

What customers say

Great site near Sheffield & Peak District. Spacious, flat pitches, clean washrooms. Friendly hosts. Sensor lights and water temp sometimes an issue. Clubhouse/food inconsistent. Good value, but some amenities need work.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Nice flat field in lovely part of Sheffield. Washing up sink available with piping hot water. Clubhouse available at the time with food and drink.
WhatsApp set up was a useful communication tool for campers.
No WiFi information given.

Disliked Shower only has cold water despite keeping it running for 5-10 mins as requested.
Washing up sink had obstacle course to reach and find.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Good area for camping, flat ground, good location in between Peak District and Sheffield so got to have a day exploring each.

Disliked We had a rowdy group by us and don't think there was a walk around done so the quiet time wasn't respected unfortunately by some other Campers (not really the sites fault). Wasn't the cleanest facilities, but there was a beer festival on site as well so probably more use than would usually have? Also the showers are open and not cubicle, so just be prepared especially if taking self conscious teens (it is your standard rugby club facilities that you are using - not an issue if you know what to expect)

The host added us to a WhatsApp group and answered any questions promptly.

Liked Leaving.

Disliked On arrival, after a 6 hour journey we decided not to stay at the site following booking due to a number of concerning reasons. Firstly that nobody was available when we arrived (before 5pm on Saturday) and it took me to contact as we had been forgotten to be added to a WhatsApp group.

Secondly, despite selecting the campsite as it had a bar on site, we get told (after arriving) that the bar is closed all weekend and that we can just go to a pub down the road. Three was no pre warning of this and simply not what was advertised.

The main issue however, was being told that men had to go into the female facilities (showers and changing rooms) to switch lights on for the mens facilities. This understandably made both my partner and I extremely uncomfortable and should be advertised before hand. My partner felt she wouldn't have been able to have a shower or use facilities without me standing outside. From my point of view as a male walking in to turn lights on is not appropriate and puts you at risk. I also certainly wouldn't want my children using the facilities in there.

On reporting this (via email as nobody at the site) we initially were told we should accept the partial refund we were offered. I then raised we had never discussed this, to find out rjis was about another person's grievance with the site. All of the issues were brushed aside by Jack and despite us not staying at the site we still haven't received the partial refund he seems to offer everyone. I feel that this site need to advertise their issues or upgrade their facilities. Maybe they should just stick to rugby?

Liked The site itself is perfect with a huge field, lovely views and great places to go to close by.

The toilet and shower facilities were acceptable although it could do with a proper light system in the ladies shower room and not a sensor light.

Disliked Not a dislike as such but it was advertised as having the clubhouse with sports TV and food which was a big tick for us. Unfortunately, we were advised just before our stay that the clubhouse would be closed all weekend, which was disappointing.
