What might you see at Horsley Farm, a peaceful site on a small, family-run working farm in North Yorkshire? Well, here, walks around the Yorkshire Wolds might be on the agenda and as for on site, that’s the place to catch some splendid sunsets and views over a buried motte and bailey grazed by Hereford cattle. With Flamingo Land Resort 30 minutes’ drive, York only five minutes extra and the coast 50 minutes away, lively days out are on the cards too. Foodies shouldn’t be disappointed here, as the farm is on the outskirts of Acklam, where there’s a pub 10 minutes’ walk away. Malton (15 minutes’ drive) is where the real taste dive is though, as the town is named Yorkshire’s food capital and it’s easy to see why, thanks to its food festival, artisan food shops and restaurants. After consuming your weight in local treats, the surrounding walks might look like an attractive option. Or perhaps you’ll want to just kick back on site with a full belly and the sounds of the cows and other animals in the surrounding fields. Either way, whenever the hunger pangs kick in again, barbecues have the green light. The site has a sink supplied with cold water to help with washing up leftover dishes. Aside from that, you’ll also have access to a composting toilet.
