  • Simple and scenic pop-up site on a Yorkshire Dales working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Bolton Abbey or Stump Cross Caverns
  • Direct access to the Dales Way; two village pubs five mins' drive away
Taking a walk on the Dales Way? You’ll probably want to stop off here – Pasture Pitches is in a supremely handy spot just off the long-distance path a couple of miles south of Appletreewick, with direct access from the path to the site. And the rather tougher 90-mile Dales High Way is only about a mile away too, making this a suitable spot for the more hardcore hikers as well. Even if you’re not planning to tackle the full 80-mile trail, this spot is well located for walking in the Yorkshire Dales – you could step out onto the Dales Way for a shorter riverside walk or check out lots of other lovely local trails including the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk or the routes around Embsay Crag (also a popular bouldering spot, by the way). Giving your boots a rest is no problem, either, as there are plenty of other attractions nearby including the stunning Stump Cross Caverns, the atmospheric ruins of Bolton Abbey and the heritage train rides of Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Skipton (15 minutes’ drive) is a handy place to find shops and places to eat, but there are also two pubs five minutes’ drive away in Appletreewick. This is a small and simple pop-up site on a working farm, so facilities stretch to just portable toilets and showers, but you’re welcome to bring a barbecue.

What customers say

Beautiful, peaceful riverside site with stunning views & Dales Way access. Praised for friendly owners, clean facilities & relaxed vibe. Some note poor phone signal/more facilities needed when busy. A hidden gem for nature lovers; highly recommended, many want to return.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Beautiful site. Lots of space and stunning views. Such friendly owners too. Loved it.

Disliked Nothing much. Maybe needs another shower and toilet but I know they’ve just started out and what they had was great. So would recommend as was ok even on a bank holiday and clean and roomy toilets and shower and bins kept clean.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked We are just home from a fabulous couple of nights stay at Pasture Pitches, a pop up site in a beautiful location. The site itself is located directly on the Dales Way Path, from the field gate you can walk left along the river and through Strid Wood to Bolton Abbey which we did yesterday and it was around 8 miles there and back. If you go right from the gate along the Way you can walk the two miles to the pretty village of Appletreewick and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the Craven Arms. This morning we walked again right from the gate and headed a mile to The Brownie Barn for a delicious breakfast. On the way home we stopped off in Grassington which was only about a 15 minute drive from the site.
The site itself was idyllic, so peaceful, a perfect getaway. For those who enjoy walking this is an ideal location. The facilities were lovely and clean and the owners were very friendly and chatty. We hope to be able to visit again!

Disliked Limited facilities- not enough toilets, showers for number of people camping. First year so hopefully will add more for next summer.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Beautiful setting and very friendly owners.
We loved the views and the riverside with a footpath along towards Bolton Abby. After a short walk of about 15 minutes you reach a bridge and a handy ice cream van.
Would definitely stay again.
(We didn’t see the toilets or showers as we just use the motorhome, so can’t comment on those.)

Liked We really enjoyed our two night stay at this great little pop-up campsite in a beautiful location by the river, a nice 40 mins walk along the river to Appletreewick. The owner’s were very friendly and helpful and kept the facilities clean and tidy.
