What customers say
This small, adult-only site gets praise for its quiet vibe and cleanliness, though some found it overcrowded with poor pitch assignments and a lack of management. Basic washrooms need updating.

Liked A well positioned site close to many lovely areas.
Small site
Wifi hook up
Shower was good .y husband used but I didn't like the dead moths etc in shower base
Disliked In poor state, grass needed cutting. Big weeds and thistles on Stone areas.
Huge amount of rubbish bags piled up at side of toilet area must have been there for weeks. These were removed perhaps following my review on their site. Toilet/showers were dirty and no cleaning bottles to use.

Liked Possibly the fact we could choose our own place as nobody there!
Disliked Overgrown field, no proper hard standing just stones, grass overgrown, weeds galore, large overgrown trees, bushes & weeds. Unusable toilets & showers unsure of when last cleaned or water checked for legionella disease, overflowing rubbish laid on ground as large site bin never been emptied for weeks or months? Stench of dog poo from nearly full bin, nobody on site at all while there but glad we were in our motorhome so could use own toilet & had to boil water for washing etc…. Had to buy large bottled water for our 2 dogs to drink as weather was so hot, some electric not working therefore couple who arrived on day we were going had to plug into ours as in a caravan. Waste water sink if that’s what it was for had human waste all over it so tried to clean it as best we could. I have called North Yorkshire council’s environmental department before we left to complain who also grants licence & said this needs closing down.

Liked We did not stay at this site in the end so unable to clarify what we liked
Disliked When we arrived we tried to ring the number given to us on the website, no one answered. It wasn’t until I left a voicemail that I got a message to ring a different number. The number I rang was for someone from the sister site. They sounded very stressed as they said there was no one that manned the site and just to pitch up wherever there was space.
I explained that there was no space for our tent. Many of the campers that where already there where taking up more space or had hooked up at the wrong electric hook up. I was told to just find space and chill out.
I payed £35 to stay at this sight and was not given the customer service that money warranted. We were not told where any of the facilities were, nor did they care if there was an actual space. When on the phone they only tried to make an excuse that the website we booked on (pitch up.com) had been giving them some real problems.
In the end we left without bothering to try and squeeze in somewhere. We found a different campsite with better facilities and customer service to warrant the money we paid.
This was our first camping trip and coming to this camp sight almost ruined everything for us.

Get there early to pitch up and be prepared to help fellow campers out

Liked Small, peaceful site. Other campers were pleasant and helpful. Good bus links to Scarborough and Pickering.
Yes, the reviews are all true. No one does answer the phone when you arrive so you just pitch up - first come, first served. Couple of electric boxes weren't working but people shared so take a splitter with you.
Bin was overflowing and looked like it hadn't been touched in weeks but maybe it wasn't there issue and could due to the council? Who knows?
Other campers were friendly, no trouble or issues with anyone.
Shower/toilets were ok. I wouldn't say they were disguistingly dirty but maybe a quick clean would be nice.
I would go again, I loved the peacefulness of it.
If you go be prepared to help other campers out and share electricity if need be.
Disliked No one answered the phone, had to pick own pitch but i wouldn't say that was a huge dislike just a minor inconvience. Bin was overflowing and looked like it hadn't been touched in weeks.

One hell of a dump,do not stay here
Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite
Liked Nothing
Disliked On arrival place looks so unloved,no one to check you in ,even though I’d booked well in advance for a one night stay with awning ,the only spot available was on a slope where the electricity was broken ,the toilets weren’t fit for animals and the showers the same ,outside the showers was a rubbish hopper that hadn’t been emptied in what looked like weeks, grass cuttings left at side of main drive way in a ton bag and wheel barrow that hadn’t gone brown ,the grass cutting was a joke as are rest of the grounds ,everyone we spoke to on site felt the same I’d booked to stay here with my wife and family for her 55 th birthday,we could not stay here and had to go elsewhere which wasn’t easy on a bank holiday Saturday,no one answers the phones on the message board as me and othered had tried ,please do not even consider staying on here it’s a real dump and should not be allowed to advertise on this site I paid over £50 for one night I’m hoping for a refund as it didn’t deliver what I’d asked for or advertised

Liked The pub next door was very nice but nothing to do with site
Disliked Had to give up are electric as wasn’t enough for everyone. Not enough room for people that was booked on for that night. 3 party’s went home or looked for different camp site. No members off staff and can’t phone anyone as the number given doesn’t answer.

AVOID. The worst site we have ever been to.
Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite
Liked The pub next door was great (not associated with the site)
Disliked Honestly, this is the worst site we have ever been to. Massively overbooked, pitch up states there are 25 pitches however 12 people were set up this weekend and it was rammed! Around 5 people arrived this weekend and had to turn around and go home as there was no space for them.
The facilities don’t look like they have been upgraded or cleaned since installation. The water taps didn’t work at our pitch, no lamp as mention on the description. The bins weren’t emptied all weekend which in blazing heat was horrendous. No toilet roll…
We arrived and called the number as specified on the booking confirmation… no answer called another one that we found on a white board. A woman answered the phone who was in Northumberland, asked if there was room and said ‘just go where you can’.

Could be a great site if owners cared more for it. 😢
Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite
Liked Peaceful little site in a good location. Good size pitches.
Disliked Lack of presence of any staff. Lots of weeds on the hard standings (more like triffids in some cases) No lights in one of the 2 toilets, no hand towels in either. Rubbish not cleared in the whole week we were there. No water on the pitch we were on, so had to run a hose to the next but one pitch to fill up our tanks
