What customers say

Guests often rave about the tranquil rural setting and friendly staff/owners, noting generous pitches and good value. However, many reviews point out the site's unkempt state, with mentions of old caravans, machinery, and a need for renovations. Showers/toilets are usually clean but some find them dated or needing work. Lake fishing is a hit.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location lovely & quiet

Disliked Spoilt by piles of junk & rubbish all over. Toilet & shower block outdated, but made worse by how dirty they were. Never saw them cleaned the 3 nights we stayed untill Monday morning then it was just bleach sprayed on the floor of the showers - the actual floor needs jet washing as the dirt is ingrained & hairs & dirt down the side of the sinks.
Trees/ bushes need cutting back around the pond so that you can walk on the path, the conifers around the camp field need cutting so that more light & sunlight fills the field - the whole site just needs a good tidy & it would be perfect

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Clean showers and toilets, very quiet site apart from the odd raf jets flying above

Disliked Untidy around site caravan grave yard, glass frames in bushes used awnings in heaps and old farming machines just rusting away by the side of the road. Concrete path around the lake in a dangerous condition

Route directions

Please note that satnav will direct you to Little Fencote village rather than to Stonebridge Fishing Lakes. To reach the site, do not use Low Street or Fence Dike Lane; instead follow the directions below. From the A1 leave at Junction 51. If you're travelling south on the A1, turn left at the roundabout (or right if you're travelling north), then cross two more roundabouts. At the next roundabout, take the first exit. Continue on this road for about 3/4 mile, then take a left turn to Scruton. Follow the road into the village, past the Coore Arms, and continue along this road all the way until you reach the site.

Local attractions

Nearby Northallerton and Richmond are both traditional market towns, with old centres alongside more modern buildings, cafés, shops, pubs and restaurants. Northallerton's market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays. From Northallerton, it's a few miles along the A694 to reach hikes, strolls, bike rides and other activities of the North York Moors National Park. The village of Osmotherley to the west of the national park is a good starting point for walkers as the 110-mile Cleveland Way runs through it; for something even more energetic, try the 40-mile Lyke Wake Walk, starting outside Osmotherley and cutting across the highest of the moors. For a spot of history, trundle along the Wensleydale Railway's 22 miles of track between Northallerton West and Redmire, where six steam trains run every weekend.
