Heathfield caravan park
Welcome to heathfield caravan park

  • Excellently-maintained site in the Nidderdale valley
  • Direct access to the Nidderdale Way; 1.5 miles from Pateley Bridge
  • Spectacular views, large pitches, shop, library and spotless amenities
Who’s up for hikes and strolls in the Nidderdale valley, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty very close to the Nidderdale Way? If this is very much your sort of hol, Heathfield Caravan Park is your place. Set within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the wooded valley of Upper Nidderdale, Heathfield is a popular but peaceful place in a green setting of walks and bike rides, horse riding and fishing. It’s a mile and a half’s walk from the park to the small and famed town of Pateley Bridge, passing along the banks of the River Nidd and Foster Beck; once in town – you may be interested to hear – Pateley Bridge is home to the oldest sweet shop in the country... And the amenities? ‘The cleanest I’ve used’ and ‘some of the best facilities we've come across’ are just a teeny selection of former guests’ opinions on the Heathfield ablutions: toilets, hot showers, a washing-up area and a modern laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities available at all hours. Also on site, in the reception building, is a library where guests can pick up a book to keep (please leave a donation in the charity box) and browse through sheaves of info on local attractions, bus times and places to eat. Reception also has a shop selling groceries, toiletries and essentials; supermarkets and restaurants are in Pateley Bridge.

This immaculately kept site is set in beautiful countryside with stunning views. Liked The site is extremely well maintained, facilities are very clean and can't be falted.

Disliked This is marketed as a family site. Not adults only, however, my 2 boys were playing together (not with a ball) and I was told that the sound of my children was spoiling their holiday. If you're planning on taking children, I'd recommend finding a more accommodating place.

Liked Lovely park. We stayed on the touring park, electric hook up, in our campervan - 2 adults, a 7 year old and 2 dogs 🐕
Quiet and clean. The facilities were immaculate. Liked the fact you had separate shower rooms, so easy to shower and change. Loved that there was an off lead dog area, so we could let the dogs have a good run around. No one bothered us, was lovely. The wifi was included and worked perfectly. Clear instructions provided before arrival. Beautiful location too, with stunning views. The Bridge inn nearby (walkable) was ok for a drink (no food). But then local village had a play park and good food places, especially the pancake shop.
Would definitely come back.

Disliked It would have been nice if the shop was open more days

Liked We have been caravaning and Motorhoming for 25 years and This is one of the best campsites we have ever stayed in. From the lovely greeting from Hannah and the twins to the perfectly groomed pitch with electric, water and tv cable , our 4 day stay was perfect. Toilet block with 4 separate rooms containing shower, toilet ,sink and hair dryer. Very good Wi-Fi at the pitch and a drive over waste. Lovely pub at the end of the road and a small brook for the dog to paddle.
Lovely riverside walk into a great little village, omg you have to try the full English at the old granary. Good parking in town £1 4 hours in an honesty box. 8 mtr Motorhome no problem. Thank you to the whole family for our stay.

Local attractions

Pateley Bridge is the starting and finishing point for the Nidderdale Way, 53 miles of walking, cycling and horse riding trails. Have some time in town too before or after your hike to visit the Nidderdale Museum, the art and design museums in King Street, the pool and gym… and that aforementioned historic sweet shop. As it’s Yorkshire, there are historical highlights aplenty: Ripley Castle and its Capability Brown landscaped gardens are 25 minutes’ drive away, towards Harrogate, and the 12th-century Augustinian Bolton Abbey (30 minutes) also has nature trails winding through Strid Wood and to the hunting lodge of Barden Tower. Also take your historical curiosity to the dungeon depths of medieval Skipton Castle (35 minutes), and to the stately homes and gardens of Newby Hall and Harewood House, 35 and 45 minutes away. A must-see is Yorkshire’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, the spectacular Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal (20 minutes), home to one of the biggest abbey ruins in the country and a medieval park with 500 deer. Going underground? Caves, gorges and geological sites are all around too: try How Stean Gorge and its roaring waterfalls and Tom Taylor’s Cave (15 minutes), or the Gordale Scar gorge 55 minutes away. And if you're tired and thirsty after all that... head to Harrogate (40 minutes), to sup some spa waters and mash a tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms.
