  • Family-run site on the edge of a peaceful Holderness village
  • A 10-minute drive from Withernsea; Spurn Head 15 minutes
  • Just over half a mile from the coast and spectacular clifftop scenery
Heading to Holderness for a camping holiday? A bright idea indeed, as this peaceful part of the East Riding coast has spectacular scenery and is dotted with an array of pretty villages. Right in the middle of it all is Elm Tree Farm, a relaxed site in the quiet village of Holmpton. Location isn’t everything, though, and Elm Tree Farm has a fair few other perks worth noting. For starters, the fact that the site is family-run (and by a dog-friendly family at that) means that you can expect a laidback, uncommercial approach to camping here. The facilities are in good shape too – there are three toilets and hot showers on site alongside washing-up facilities, plus little extras like a fridge and microwave that guests are welcome to use. It’s kitted out technologically too, with USB ports for easy phone charging and wifi across the whole site. Withernsea (10 minutes’ drive) is down the road for supermarkets and takeaways, while the popular village of Patrington (10 minutes) has award-winning fish and chips and cafés.

What customers say

Friendly, well-kept, peaceful small campsite. Guests love the clean facilities, warm host Gina, and quiet rural setting. Spacious pitches, clean showers (fee), communal kitchen, and good WiFi. Breakfast butties a hit. Some note no sea views, occasional busy washrooms, and difficult beach access due to erosion.

Liked A very peaceful site and Gina the host was so kind and approachable. The showers and toilets were clean and the water was lovely and warm. We tried some lagers that were for sale and they were going down a treat. Highly recommend this place.

Liked The owner gina was lovely always on hand if you needed anything,
If you love wildlife and hearing it first thing in the morning 4/5am then this is the place for you, facilities where clean just need a bit updating, when the camp site full only have 1 washing up sink there’s a lot of waiting about for people to do there washing up, there's 3 showers/ toilets with hot water and a £1.00 a time,

Disliked Nothing to do with the campsite just to let people know that there’s no access to a beach just a steep cliff edge,

From the manager: This is a surprising and disappointing review from guests who, when I went to say goodbye to them this morning, told me what a great time they had had and would be coming back again!!
The shower pod with shower and toilet either side is only 3 years old so definitely doesn’t need upgrading. These guests chose to use the shower in the washroom which is an older part of the campsite but the other facilities were available to them.
The poor score for facilities/activities is very unfair I feel and I would be interested to know what sort of activities these guests were hoping for on a small, rural campsite which is described exactly as this in the Pitch Up description.
As for ‘Value for money’, Elm Tree Farm is currently the cheapest campsite in the area.

Liked Quiet and provides WiFi with a toilet.

Disliked No pit fires allowed, disappointing as this is what camping is all about. Plus, no little gas stoves allowed for your cooking, only bbq.

From the manager: This is an extremely disappointing review. It states quite clearly in our 'Pitch Up' site details that we do not allow camp fires or fire pits. This is also clear on the large noticeboard as you drive onto the camp site. The reason for this is not that we are being miserable and trying to spoil somebody's camping experience but we are a very small, enclosed site and the cost of the insurance to cover allowing camp fires/fire pits was ridiculous. I will state that this customer had a large fire pit VERY close to their tent and a surrounding hedge so was therefore asked to extinguish it. I would suggest that the customer reads more closely into the details of a site before booking in the future.
The review also states that the site is 'quiet and provides WiFi with a toilet'. We actually have 3 toilets and 3 showers to service a 9 pitch site.

Local attractions

Pitching up here means being within striking distance of the sea pretty much throughout your stay, whether you’re wandering down to the nearest cliffs (half a mile’s walk) or heading further off to the windswept shores of Spurn National Nature Reserve and its discovery centre (15 minutes’ drive) or the classic seaside resort of Bridlington (an hour). Also by the coast, Withernsea (10 minutes) has points of interest that ought to keep you amused for a good few hours, with an intriguing inland lighthouse that stands in the centre of the town and well-maintained amenities at the Pavilion Leisure Centre, where you can take a dip at the pool or work up a sweat in the gym. Further afield, Hull’s Museums Quarter (40 minutes) will be of interest to anyone keen on archeology or William Wilberforce and the abolition of slavery. While in town, the kids won’t want to miss the sea creatures housed at The Deep aquarium; if they’ve still got energy to burn after that you can always take them ice skating at Hull Arena.
