  • Small rural campsite five minutes’ drive from Aylsham in Norfolk
  • Cromer Beach 20 minutes’ drive and Wroxham Broad 25 minutes
  • Barbecues permitted; pubs and restaurants five minutes’ drive
When you’re Norfolk-bound and looking for a quiet, family-friendly countryside stay, Bure Valley Meadow fits the bill perfectly. At only five minutes’ drive from all the facilities of historic Aylsham market town, the extensive grass camping field is sheltered by mature trees and there is little to disturb the sound of birdsong once you’re all settled on your pitch. Mad about heritage trains? You’ll be pleased to hear that the miniature steam trains of the Bure Valley Railway run past the camping field. There are also numerous walking and cycling routes direct from the site, and if you’re keen to get out on the water, go paddleboarding and kayaking on the River Bure, which is a short walk across the fields, or Wroxham Broad (25 minutes’ drive) If you’re into self-catering, barbecues are permitted on the camping meadow, and there’s a scattering of picnic tables ready and waiting for warmer days. Otherwise, make a beeline for the pubs and restaurants of Aylsham, or if you feel like a big night out there are more dining options in Norwich (35 minutes). Back on site, simple modern facilities alongside the spacious pitches include unisex shower shacks with hot water and flushing loos, as well as an alfresco washing-up area. And finally… just one request from the owners: this is a peaceful, rural sort of a place and they’d like to keep it that way, so no loud noise or music after 10pm please.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Nice location tucked away in a nice countryside location. It was small and perfect for somewhere to have a quiet nights sleep, just what we were looking for. The showers were excellent, and facilities were spotless and well looked after by the owners.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked This was our first camping trip as a family of four and this campsite was the perfect introduction. A quiet and peaceful site with two hot showers, two toilets and a decent washing up sink. Friendly and helpful staff who kept the site clean, emptied bins daily, and kept on top of toilet roll and soap etc.

Loved the railway line that runs next to the site, exciting for young children.

Beautiful area with lots to do.

Would definitely recommend!

Disliked Not a dislike but maybe something to consider…one of my kids worries about safety and asked a few times if the gates would be locked at night. Could be a good idea for the future for those who are worried about this sort of thing.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Thank you so much for letting us use your campsite! The best campsite we have used as a family so far! Owners were so lovely and attentive! Campsite was cleaned and maintained daily, facilities were fantastic, showers were lovely and warm with excellent water pressure, clean toilets and washing up section with hot water running. Drinking water available too. Field was lovely and flat with good shelter from wind, with some horses at the one end. Quiet safe place, lots to do supermarket and local shop no more than 5 mins away, beaches were 25 mins away. Lovely walks close by! We will be returning and recommending!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Small, quiet campsite. Loads of space. Immaculately clean toilets and showers that appear to be checked regularly. Can buy firewood, firelighters, marshmallows etc on site.

Convenient for getting to the beaches. My son loved that he saw the steam train go past (about once an hour up to 6pm so doesn't disturb the peace of the site)
