  • Dog-friendly pop-up site on a relaxed family smallholding
  • A 20-minute drive from King’s Lynn; 40 minutes to Snettisham beach
  • Meet resident animals; outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and firewood
Next up: Norfolk? If a rural break in Norfolk is on the agenda, Laurel Tree Fields is a lovely place to set yourself down. The dog-friendly site is in the grounds of a family smallholding, so you’re welcome to meet and greet the resident sheep, goats, alpacas, chickens and ducks (and get involved with hand-feeding the alpacas, goats and sheep if you wish). Only 20 minutes’ drive from King’s Lynn, there are plenty of opportunities for foodies to dive right in. If you’re not full of gourmet eats already, the facilities on site include outdoor kitchen essentials such as a gas barbecue and firepit. The site sells firewood and eggs (mornings sunny side up, yes please…). There’s nothing too fancy about the field and facilities as this is a pop-up site, but everything is clean and functional. Other facilities at your disposal are running water, a portable toilet and wash basin. Spend your eve stargazing by your firepit and spend your mornings watching the goats roll around their playground. There’s no wifi, but most people get decent 4G phone signals. The local pub, restaurants and farm shop are a mile in either direction (around 25 minutes’ walk), and there’s a post office and a small shop 15 minutes’ walk away too. Being easily accessible by major road networks, it’s all rather easy to visit beaches (from 40 minutes’ drive), family attractions and historical sites or find your way over to Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Our stay at Laurel Tree Fields was very enjoyable!
The campsite is clean and tidy, the facilities are much better than what was advertised. The owners were incredibly welcoming and let us feed the alpacas. We were provided with a fire pit and all the wood at a small extra cost. From the camping area you can see the alpacas and horses.
There aren’t showers available but we were staying for one night so wouldn’t have used them anyway.

Disliked: Can’t fault it.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Everything! Great kitchen and toilet block. Loved that we could have a bbq or fire with bonus that they have fire pits you can borrow and sell logs too! Icing on the cake was the fields of aminals nearby (not a disturbance) and getting a chance to feed the alpacas! Run by a very lovely couple. Highly recommended and we hope to return.

Disliked: For FYI, it's possible to hear the A road from the site. Obviously can't be helped, but bring ear plugs if you're likely to be sensitive to that.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Site was immaculate, hosts were amazing, facilities excellent, animals made the stay more interesting and they were kept really well. I couldn't recommend Denise and Chris site anymore, we will definitely visit again.

Disliked: No shower, but having a clean bathroom was a huge bonus. It would be great to have an outdoor solar one 😌. You can hear the traffic from the main road but it isn't overwhelming and the setting is so nice you don't really think about it.
