  • Quiet caravan park five minutes’ walk to Caister-on-Sea Beach, Norfolk
  • SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth and Ormesby Broad both 10 minutes’ drive
  • Hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups; shops 10 minutes’ drive
Family-run specifically for families, Norfolk’s Grasmere Caravan Park is a quiet grassy enclave only 10 minutes’ drive – but light years in vibe – from the razzmatazz of east-coast resorts like Great Yarmouth. In fact, the site is 10 minutes’ drive from a lot of places, including Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, Joyland amusement park and Ormesby Broad, so you and the kids will never be short of something to do and see. And the list goes on, for there are several pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and specialist food shops within 10 minutes by car too, making life on site nice and easy for you. Luckily for excited kids, the beach at Caister-on-Sea is closer still, being five minutes’ stroll away from your tourer pitch, so they can soon be digging castles on the sand. Allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, the pitches are generally hard, well drained and laid with stone or granite chips. Each has its own service point with a water tap, foul water drain and electric hook-up. Please note dogs are not permitted. So you can relax knowing that your worldly goods are safe, access to the site is via a remote-controlled barrier for caravans, which is operated by staff only.

Liked The site was very nice & peaceful
The pitches were a good size & not too close together
The toilets & showers were well maintained
The beach was a 5 minute walk & was lovely. There was a coffee shop near the lifeboat but we didn't try it. On the walk back from the beach we called in The Ship pub for a drink & sat in the garden. Opposite the pub there's a fish & chip shop which we tried the next day. They were the best we've ever tasted.
Just outside the campsite is a bus stop which takes you into Yarmouth or opposite direction along the coast as far as Hemsby where there are places to buy food & drinks & shops to buy gifts. It also has a lovely beach.

Disliked We took my son who has special needs & Autism. We were in a camper van & we chose this site because pitchup states that you can take a pup tent. We thought that was perfect as my son likes to sleep in a tent. When we arrived at the entrance the sign said ( no dogs or tents). We spoke to the warden & we agreed we would put the tent under our gazebo as the warden said it would upset other people on the site. It did mean we had less room to sit under it when it was very hot.

Pitch up please give the correct information

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review. I have now removed the pup tent option from our listing. We do allow these for the purpose of storage not sleeping . However as the parent of a special needs child myself we are always happy to try and accommodate individuals needs wherever possible .
Many thanks

Liked The toilets were fine. The pitches were nice and flat.

Disliked First impressions count and the first impression of this site was that it was run down and in need of TLC.
It is not bad site, just in need of maintenance.
However, and while not totally the responsibility of the campsite owners, there was an incident on the night of the 5th of July that they did not intervene in (they might have feared for their personal safety but the police should have been called. )
Fighting, loud music, a car circling the campsite tooting the horn, for about two hours in the early morning. Someone could have been injured.
No sigh of the owners the next day to check in on guests either. Not ideal at all.

From the manager: Firstly my most sincere apologies that this incident happened during your stay . We pride ourselves in providing a peaceful stay and this was highly unusual . I did personally intervene and evict the responsible parties on the spot and the police were called . I also was on site the next morning personally talking to all the customers . I can assure we we take these matters seriously and acted accordingly . I’m sorry I missed you personally , I was on-site has you reached out to discuss.
These things happen sometimes to the best of us .

Liked Peaceful, clean, and family-friendly – a perfect stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Caister Caravan Site. It was peaceful and quiet, just what we were looking for. Our kids made lots of new friends, and we were impressed by how respectful all the children were with the noise, both early in the mornings and during the evenings.

The showers and toilets were excellent – very clean and well-maintained throughout our stay.

The location is ideal: close enough to Yarmouth seafront and all its attractions, but far enough away that we didn’t hear any of the hustle and bustle. There’s also plenty to do within walking distance of the site, which makes exploring really easy.

We’ll definitely be coming back – highly recommended for families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable break!

Disliked Nothing.
