  • Well-maintained and gated park in a peaceful rural village
  • A 10-minute drive to Ely, 35 to Newmarket and 40 to Cambridge
  • Pub on site with trampoline; dog-walking track right across the road
Ease yourself into East Anglia by booking a pitch at Slade Paddock, a well-located and secure gated site in Witcham that is also part of a working farm. Splendid for ramblers and cyclists alike, there is an on-site pub called The Humble Pig (open from Tuesday to Sunday) with a lovely terrace where guests can sit and treat themselves to a drink. During high season, live music is held in the marquee on Saturday evenings, and on Friday and Saturday evenings, The Jolly Trotter food van provides delicious homemade food on site. Entertainment, scheduled throughout June, July and August, is totally free and popular with members of the public too. This park is a prime spot for pet owners, with a dog-walking track right across the road for guests bringing their four-legged pals along. History buffs are sorted here too thanks to a bus service that stops just off the local green and whisks you to the stately sights of Cambridge within an hour. Barbecues are allowed on the spacious open grounds too if you’re keen to rustle up alfresco food. Rather order local grub at a restaurant when evening rolls around? If you fancy dining out, eateries are a 15-minute drive away in Ely, which is also home to top local attractions like Oliver Cromwell’s House. Modern facilities at this Cambridgeshire park include four wetrooms with showers, two washing-up areas, and a toilet that's accessible for people with disabilities.

What customers say

This well-maintained site gets top marks for roomy, level spots & super clean washrooms, especially the wet rooms. Staff are always friendly & welcoming. The pub & food truck are hits, with live music often on weekends. Handy for Ely, it's a great spot for a chill break. Some note occasional road noise & fewer food choices mid-week.

Liked This site has to be one of the best sites I've stayed at! Toilets & showers and other facilities were spotless. The ladies toilets even had a little basket with sanitary towels & body spray..... never seen that before. Washing up room had spare wash up liquid.
Grounds were very flat and all pegs went in with ease & stayed in perfect. No hard rocks or stones to end up with bent pegs!
The food place served the best dirty fries & lamb wrap. And the music on in the marquee was fantastic. The locals that attended were all friendly. An extra thank you from my tiny yorkie for the bone that was bigger than her lol.
Fresh water taps all around the site.
I really can't rate this place enough!
We will 100% be back.

Liked We stayed 2 nights with our granddaughter and dog, we loved the site. Owners were very friendly, the facilities were lovely and clean. They had a food tent which did excellent food and a bar. Very friendly staff. They had a band playing on the Saturday evening which was brilliant.
Would definitely go there again.

Liked Just returned from a fantastic stay at Slade Paddock and already planning my next visit! This quality campsite ticks all the boxes — clean, peaceful, and perfectly located just a short drive from both Ely and Cambridge.

🛶 Tranquility Meets Convenience
The site is beautifully maintained and blissfully quiet, offering a real escape without sacrificing access to nearby attractions. Whether you’re exploring Ely’s historic charm or heading into Cambridge, everything’s within easy reach.

🍔 Food That Hits the Spot
The on-site eats from The Jolly Hog are a real treat — bold BBQ flavours, top-notch sausages, and British fare served with flair. It’s not just tasty, it’s memorable.

🍻 Pub Perfection
Just steps away, The Humble Pig delivers everything you want in a countryside pub: lush vibes, friendly service, and prices that won’t break the bank. A proper gem.

🚿 Facilities That Stay Spotless
Toilets were spotless throughout our stay — clearly well cared for and regularly cleaned, which makes all the difference.

🌟 Final Thoughts
Slade Paddock offers the perfect blend of countryside calm and creature comforts. If you’re after a relaxing break with great food, clean facilities, and easy access to Ely and Cambridge, this is the spot.
Will definitely be back!

Disliked Only negative, pegs were almost impossible to get out of the ground due to hardness - however, understand this cannot be helped - did not put us off at all.

From the manager: Do you know what Bradley, we so so appreciate the time you took to write this review and will be using your amazing photo's from your drone on our website (if in agreement) - so an extra thanks......

So happy that you both enjoyed your stay and grateful that you recognise what we have on offer on our little but friendly site.

Thanks again Bradley - and if/when you return we will take your bloody hard to remove pegs out for you haha!!!!!

Cheers
Sal and Trev

Liked Everything. We love this campsite, there’s so much space for each pitch which is wonderful for children. They were pretty much fully booked and there was still enough space for everyone and it was so peaceful. We will definitely return

The staff are so polite and accommodating. The bar is well stocked and the food van has the most amazing homemade food

Liked Received a super friendly reception on arrival. We had an option of pitches, which was great. The pitch was large as we had a car as well as a camper. It was great that BBQ's and Pit fires are allowed, these are always the two critera we look for when booking a site. Nothing better than chilling around a small open fire into the evening. There is a well-stocked bar on-site and live music for the night we stayed, though we didn't attend the band playing.
Toilets and shower rooms are clean and well-maintained.
We will be back for sure!

Local attractions

Ely (15 minutes’ drive) has endless activities to keep you entertained: head to this town to roam around the cracking cathedral and stained-glass museum before leaping onto a Liberty Belle Cruises boat at Ship Lane to bob along the Great Ouse river. Fancy a flutter? Newmarket (35 minutes) is known for being the birthplace of horse racing, so it’s a must-visit spot for equestrian types. Peer at the high-tech displays in Palace House’s National Horseracing Museum, timing your visit to the town just right to catch a fixture at the renowned racecourse afterwards. If you’re hot on history, you’ll want to amble around Anglesey Abbey (35 minutes) and admire the artworks before covering some of the 98 acres of grounds during a stroll. Wander to Wimpole Hall (40 minutes) later on, stopping to fawn over the farm animals that live here, then eye up the aviation displays – an old Concorde plane included – at the Imperial War Museum Duxford (40 minutes). Many of East Anglia’s other absorbing attractions are in Cambridge (40 minutes): think a series of stunning colleges, fab art galleries like the Fitzwilliam Museum and pleasant punting on the River Cam.
