  • Supersize glamping pod in Wilburton village on Cambridgeshire fenland
  • Cambridge 45 minutes’ drive; Newmarket half an hour; 15 minutes to Ely
  • Ensuite bathroom, kitchen and living space; secure private garden
Visiting the kids at Cambridge University (45 minutes’ drive), or keen to have a flutter on the horses at Newmarket Racecourse (half an hour)? Just fancy exploring Cambridgeshire? Whatever your reasons for visiting, Forget Me Not Glamping, is a comfy and cosy hideaway set on the outskirts of pretty Wilburton village in a quiet corner of fenland countryside. Inside the swish, super-sized and heated wooden pod, there’s a kitchenette with toaster, microwave and fridge – all you need for producing simple meals – plus a compact dining area and living space. The double bedroom has an ensuite with walk-in shower, and a TV takes care of lazy evenings. Outside, there’s sheltered decking and seating in front of the pod, plus a secure private garden where children and any dogs can play safely. For more exercise, Doghouse Grove (20 minutes’ walk) is a small nature reserve with way-marked paths through the trees – look out for kingfishers as you stroll. If you want to fire up the barbecue during your stay, source goodies at the basics store in Sutton (10 minutes’ drive), or head to Ely supermarkets (15 minutes) for more serious stocking up.

Local attractions

Spending the day in Cambridge (45 minutes’ drive)? Take a punt ride down the River Cam, see the best of contemporary art at Kettle’s Yard or tour the priceless antiquities in the Fitzwilliam Museum. And try not to leave without seeing at least one of the spectacular colleges – among others, the quads at Magdalene, King’s and Jesus are all open to the public. One of the biggest medieval buildings in the UK, Ely Cathedral (25 minutes) rewards a visit with vivid stained glass in its museum, the elaborately painted 19th-century ceiling in its nave and a soaring octagonal tower. Fancy an outdoor adventure? Follow boardwalks through the wetlands at National Trust-owned Wicken Fen Nature Reserve (15 minutes) to spot wild Konik ponies and Highland cattle as well as myriad rare butterflies and birds. Try your hand at paddleboarding and kayaking on the lake at Milton Country Park (25 minutes), or rent a bike and get pedalling around the dedicated off-road course.

Camping pod

Liked: The whole experience was great. The hosts were really nice and very friendly. It was a beautiful Glamping pod, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We would definitely look to visit again in the future.

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike.

Camping pod

Liked: Lovely, warm, cosy glamping pod. Enough kitchen equipment for the basics and the bed is very comfortable. Wilburton is a very picturesque village and very close to Ely and Cambridge. Owner could not have been more helpful and the lodge was spotless.

Disliked: Shower was very weak.
