  • Static caravan on a working farm five miles from the Cotswolds
  • On the Heart of England Way; 15 minutes’ drive to Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Pubs and takeaways a short drive away and forest walks very close by
Feeling like your batteries need recharging? Plug into the wildlife haven at Church Farm in the splendid Warwickshire countryside. The site’s dog-friendly static caravan is based on a working farm, five miles from the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the route for the Heart of England Way… The aforementioned footpath has 100 miles of hiking through spectacular farmland and riversides, but don’t feel like you have to go the whole distance. You might want to tackle a smaller stretch and follow it up with a takeaway, pub meal or restaurant visit – there are several establishments within 10 minutes’ drive of the site for all of that. Another option, of course, is to pour yourself a generous glass of wine, take up residence on the balcony and wait for the sunset to visit (possibly with the gentle noise of the farm's animals in the background, since there are sheep, calves, pigs and horses across the quiet farm location). The caravan is very comfy, sleeping up to four in a double bedroom and a twin. There’s a kitchen too, in case you want to cook some of your go-to comfort foods after taking the splendid walks around the farm and the Heart of England Forest - Coxmere Wood (10 minutes’ walk). There's a handy farm shop 10 minutes' drive away too. As the caravan’s based on hardstanding, there’s also space for a vehicle to park alongside. It’s all rather easy to get out – take the 10 minutes’ drive to the edge of the Cotswolds or the 15 minutes to Stratford-upon-Avon, where there are bookshops, boat hire on the river Avon and plenty of pretty eateries.

Local attractions

Here for the historical sites? Warwick Castle (half an hour's drive) will get you into the historical spirit with live shows (and birds of prey shows, for the bird fans among you). The National Trust’s Hidcote (15 minutes) is just as splendid a historic setting, with secret gardens and a manor house. Characterful towns or villages too? The high street in Chipping Campden (15 minutes) has been strolled down since the 14th century, and the market hall adds plenty of extra character. Broadway’s galleries, eateries and horse chestnut trees (20 minutes) are just as splendid. Then, there’s Bourton-on-the-Water (35 minutes) too, where there are traditional stone houses, as well as a motoring museum and a model village. Perhaps it’s the bigger destinations that you’re keen to visit. If so, Warwick (half an hour), Cheltenham (45 minutes) and Worcester (45 minutes) are some of your options. Along with Cheltenham, Hereford Racecourse (an hour and 25 minutes) hosts racing events for lively days at the races.
