  • Peaceful pop-up site at a farm in the Staffordshire Moorlands
  • Alton Towers 10 minutes' drive; Peak District walks 20 minutes away
  • Meet animals and buy produce on site; pub two minutes' walk
Piggies to meet on site, a pub a couple of minutes’ walk away, and Peak District walks close by… that’s just the start of a list of selling points for Tunstead Campsite, just outside the village of Foxt in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Pitches at this pop-up farm site are simple (please note that there are no showers, only toilets for guests' use) but scenic, with a peaceful atmosphere and lovely views across the surrounding green landscapes. You’ll be able to meet and feed the three friendly pigs, and can also buy logs, free-range eggs, homemade bread and butchers’ packs to boost your rural experience. Don’t fancy cooking? Stroll to the local pub (a mere two minutes’ walk from the farm) for burgers and other pub classics along with a good range of drinks. The immediate surroundings are great for a country walk (handy for dog owners…), but it's also worth knowing that the edge of the Peak District National Park is only a few miles away, putting places like Ashbourne and Dovedale within easy reach for walks and bike rides. And that's not all – family attractions like Alton Towers and the Peak Wildlife Park are within 10 minutes’ drive too. An aesthetics and skincare clinic is based at Tunstead Campsite, so if you fancy getting a Japanese head spa treatment, you know where to go; site guests get a 15% discount.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Peaceful and Lovely views, was welcomed on arrival and on leaving was asked if we had any problems. It’s nice for the owners to make an effort to talk been to a few places where they don’t bother. Like how you can just enter the field and pitch anywhere, toilets very clean and an honesty cart with little things you might need just help your self and go pay. Highly recommend if you are staying in the area for the night. Definitely will be back. Lovely little site. Oh and the village pub was lovely locals were very welcoming 😊

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great campsite, lots of room, nice views and good facilities. Fire pits/wood/BBQs available to buy onsite for a reasonable price and the hosts were very helpful. Lovely pub 2 minutes walk away with food, a free pool table and darts, lots of outdoor seating and friendly staff.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The quiet, no fuss camping field. The 1 minute walking distance to the pub for our evening meal was great. Very helpful and friendly hosts.

Disliked Would really like it if a shower could be added so that that I could stay longer. Wouldn't want to wash at a sink for more than a 1 night stay

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The family were very friendly. Eager to help however they were able. The site was clean and well managed. Toilets, washing up and rubbish bins all available and kept well. Love that you can buy disposable bbqs just in case, although there are a couple of pubs within a few minutes away. It’s convenient for so many tourist attractions and popular walks. The chickens and pigs are very sweet and people friendly.

Disliked It took us a little bit to find the right place, but I’ve seen that a sign is on the way. And this is nature rather than the site itself, but flies!! Don’t forget your repellant!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Our stay at Tunstead Campsite was a perfect weekend getaway. From the pleasantly helpful site owner to the picturesque views from the pitch. A stone throw away from the nearest pub. This really was in ideal location and would advise any keen camper to book a weekend here.

Disliked The only thing I could think of that would make an improvement to this site. Is a clear indication as to the sites whereabouts. Myself & our friends questioned whether we here at the right place when pulling onto what we assumed was just someone's house. After speaking to the site owner, and learning that the site had only been open a week. This was understandable.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for that suggestion, we have now placed an order for a sign!
