Ladies, gents, solo travellers, couples, kids and the dog have quite the pick of places to roam around when staying at popular Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park near Whitchurch, as it's on the border of Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire with several days'/weeks' worth of activities and attractions in each. There'll be a rather warm welcome on site too from Pam, Richard and the team, who take pride in making their family-run park somewhere guests want to come back to. Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park is on a refined, peaceful and well-maintained seven-acre smallholding, which comes with first-class vistas of the surrounding Shropshire countryside and excellently-kept amenities. The pitches are decently sized and all have their own water supply and electric. Amenities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area, plus a fridge and freezer, a kettle, a hairdryer, and a washing machine and dryer (small extra charge applies). Barbecues are allowed on site: for supplies, the market town of Whitchurch is about six miles to the east, while Wrexham is about 10 minutes' drive west.

  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • As with most campsites it gets busy between 8am and 10am. Hot water is available 24 hours a day so best to try and avoid this time for showering if possible. The facilities are new and are kept immaculately clean.

A small, peaceful site in a lovely rural setting. Reviewers rave about spotless facilities (showers, toilets, hot water). Pam and Richard are super friendly and helpful. Pitches are spacious and private. Great for quiet getaways and exploring. Showers could use squeegees, and there can be queues at busy times. Wasps were an issue for some.

Powered grass tent campsite (no awning)

Liked Great bathroom facilities. Always exceptionally clean, which, going camping on other sites can be a deal breaker.

The pitches are nice and well maintained and there are some lovely views.

We were greeted on arrival and made to feel very welcome. There was also a small room with a hairdryer and washing facilities if needed, including microwave.

Exceptional WiFi at our pitch, meaning we could stream anything from the football match to Netflix - very convenient.

Aldi is about a 10 min drive away which is convenient.

All other guests were respectful and quiet.

Disliked Couple of minor annoyances, but nothing too major that upset us greatly.

There was a fridge, but it was off. It would be ideal to have somewhere to store perishable items.
In addition, there was a loud noise most mornings, that sounded like a horn (but more melodic) - no idea where from, or even if it was in the control of the owners.

There was a wasp nest and butterfly nest close to our pitch. The butterfly’s are stunning and very welcome, unlike the annoying wasps. Luckily, interactions with them were far and few between - again, not sure if it is something the owner can help or not.

No bars, pubs or shops in walking distance, so something to be aware of if you are looking to go out whilst camping.

You can hear the low hum of cars on the A road most of the night, but nothing too loud to stop you sleeping, it’s just not deadly silent as you may prefer.

Liked Everything about this site is fantastic.
Its in a beautiful location, really peaceful (until our children arrived!) Very very well kept with beautiful surroundings with brilliant facilities. The toilets and showers are immaculate with running hot water 24hrs a day. There's also a big Belfast sink to wash up your pots ect. There's also WiFi if you want it.
The owner and host Pam was so lovely and it comes across that she really wants you to have a wonderful stay. Pam was so attentive and went that extra mile to make our stay relaxed.
We went in a group made up of 3 families and Pam allowed us to have more space than usual (as it was a quiet time for them). Which allowed the children to play games and run free and have lots of fun, which is what camping is all about!
I cant praise this site enough and Pam, you are a wonderful host!
We will return next year!

Local attractions

This be Roman country: nearby Whitchurch was founded by the rampaging lot around the time of Caesar (the first), on a main Roman road between Chester and Wroxeter. Chester, one of the main Roman towns, is about 40 minutes' drive from Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park and has a Roman amphitheatre to see as well as Roman remains and a museum at Dewa Roman Experience. Fans of other history periods also come to Chester to see its medieval and black and white buildings and its Grade I listed city walls, among the best preserved city walls in Britain, and the 11th-century Chester Cathedral. Back near base, stop off at the well-kept Whitchurch Heritage Centre to see some more Roman remains alongside exhibits and galleries taking the town up to modern times. Around the streets, make time too for the Clock Trail or one of the other several town trails: most fortuitously, most pass a pub… Also anciently, several castles, historic houses and National Trust properties are within conquerable driving distance – Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall in Wrexham, Combermere Abbey, Cholmondeley Castle and Bolesworth Castle just to start you off. All have regular events, including an international show jumping event at Bolesworth, and a Pageant of Power, Pony Club Championships and garden openings at Cholmondeley. Here to hike? Five long-distance walking trails start from Whitchurch's Jubilee Park, including the Shropshire Way which runs along to the Llangollen Canal, crossing the border between England and Wales. The Sandstone Trail, 34 miles through Cheshire and Shropshire, starts and finishes in the town. Other sights and sites nearby are Shrewsbury and the follies at Hawkstone Park about 20 miles away, and the early nineteenth century Pontcysyllte Aqueduct carrying the Llangollen Canal over the River Dee, a World Heritage Site with the wondrous Horseshoe Falls. Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is about an hour and a quarter's drive away.
