  • Well-kept, family-run and friendly park on the Welsh border
  • Spectacular views of the surrounding countryside
  • On a seven-acre smallholding 15 miles from Chester
Ladies, gents, solo travellers, couples, kids and the dog have quite the pick of places to roam around when staying at popular Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park near Whitchurch, as it's on the border of Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire with several days'/weeks' worth of activities and attractions in each. There'll be a rather warm welcome on site too from Pam, Richard and the team, who take pride in making their family-run park somewhere guests want to come back to. Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park is on a refined, peaceful and well-maintained seven-acre smallholding, which comes with first-class vistas of the surrounding Shropshire countryside and excellently-kept amenities. The pitches are decently sized and all have their own water supply and electric. Amenities include toilets, showers and a washing-up area (these all updated for the 2021 season), plus a fridge and freezer, a kettle, a hairdryer, and a washing machine and dryer (small extra charge applies). Barbecues are allowed on site: for supplies, the market town of Whitchurch is about six miles to the east, while Wrexham is about 10 minutes' drive west.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful site in a rural setting. Immaculately kept facilities with piping hot water in the dishwash area.
Spacious heated individual shower and toilet cubicles with plenty of provisions.
My dog and I had a lovely couple of days relaxing and enjoying the peace.
Pam, the owner, was very friendly and welcoming. She pointed out where the dog walking field and local pub was.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Loved the fact it was simple. If you are looking for playgrounds, on site entertainment, shop etc then this is not for you. But if you want a peaceful, dog friendly, child friendly site with just the essentials like an immaculate toilet/shower facility, electric hook up and water then this is your place.

The pitch was spacious and for the first few nights we had it all to ourselves. Pam made daily visits to the pitch to make sure we were ok. My son also loved the daily visit from the cat 🐈‍⬛ In my opinion this site strikes the right balance between having a peaceful stay in the countryside which is why we love caravanning but also having simple luxuries like free internet, electricity, water and a toilet/washing up facility.

Added bonus is that for any amateur astrophotographers out there this site is a bortle 4 location with great southerly views. Allowed me to photograph some nebulas that I ordinarily cannot photograph from home as I have no view of the south.

Really good site, couldn’t fault it and will definitely return.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Beautiful quiet site with lovely views. The owner was lovely and friendly and made sure our stay was a good one. Clean toilets and showers.
Everything was perfect.
Perfect location, a 10 minute drive away to the local village, lovely boutique shops and many pubs serving food and drinks.

From the manager: Hi Lesley, many thanks for taking the time to leave a lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you back to stay with us over the Summer months. Best regards Richard and Pamela

Local attractions

This be Roman country: nearby Whitchurch was founded by the rampaging lot around the time of Caesar (the first), on a main Roman road between Chester and Wroxeter. Chester, one of the main Roman towns, is about 40 minutes' drive from Lady Willington Camping and Caravan Park and has a Roman amphitheatre to see as well as Roman remains and a museum at Dewa Roman Experience. Fans of other history periods also come to Chester to see its medieval and black and white buildings and its Grade I listed city walls, among the best preserved city walls in Britain, and the 11th-century Chester Cathedral. Back near base, stop off at the well-kept Whitchurch Heritage Centre to see some more Roman remains alongside exhibits and galleries taking the town up to modern times. Around the streets, make time too for the Clock Trail or one of the other several town trails: most fortuitously, most pass a pub… Also anciently, several castles, historic houses and National Trust properties are within conquerable driving distance – Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall in Wrexham, Combermere Abbey, Cholmondeley Castle and Bolesworth Castle just to start you off. All have regular events, including an international show jumping event at Bolesworth, and a Pageant of Power, Pony Club Championships and garden openings at Cholmondeley. Here to hike? Five long-distance walking trails start from Whitchurch's Jubilee Park, including the Shropshire Way which runs along to the Llangollen Canal, crossing the border between England and Wales. The Sandstone Trail, 34 miles through Cheshire and Shropshire, starts and finishes in the town. Other sights and sites nearby are Shrewsbury and the follies at Hawkstone Park about 20 miles away, and the early nineteenth century Pontcysyllte Aqueduct carrying the Llangollen Canal over the River Dee, a World Heritage Site with the wondrous Horseshoe Falls. Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, is about an hour and a quarter's drive away.
