  • Simple grass pitches at a secluded Shropshire spot near Bridgnorth
  • A 15-minute drive to Ironbridge Gorge; half an hour to Shrewsbury
  • Coarse and fly fishing at the on-site pond, plus woodland walks
Fishing, woodland walks, barbecue evenings or just chilling out in a countryside location – whichever of these brings you to Shropshire for a rural break, it's here at Hurst Farm, about 10 minutes' drive from Bridgnorth, an attractive market town on the banks of the River Severn. This is a secluded spot, but it's relatively easily accessed as it's less than a mile from the A458. You'll pitch up in two acres of grassy field with simple but nicely thought out facilities – there are drinking water standpipes, an Elsan point, a portable toilet and a great little shower in a converted trailer. There’s plenty of space here, so feel free to bring along an awning, a barbecue and some camping chairs to make yourselves nice and comfortable. Walkers, cyclists, groups and families (including any dogs you'd like to bring) are all welcome here, but the site is particularly well suited to folk that enjoy fishing, as it's a mere 20-metre walk through the woods from the pitches to the fishing pool. It's a great spot for both coarse and fly fishing, with cash payments taken on the banks while you’re fishing (just don't forget that you'll need a licence to fish here). And even if you have no intention of fishing, it's nice to take a little stroll through the woods to the water while you’re here. Walks and fishing aside, what else might you get up to locally? Well, you could visit the numerous museums of Ironbridge, take a ride on the Severn Valley Railway or explore historical attractions like Wenlock Priory and Attingham Park. Shrewsbury and Ludlow are both a little over half an hour's drive away for some town time.
