  • Traditional thatched pub with meals five minutes' walk away
Nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds, Barford St Michael is surrounded by beautiful countryside and a wealth of attractions, all within easy reach of your campsite. The village offers a peaceful rural setting, ideal for exploring Oxfordshire. Situated in the grounds of a country manor house, Chesney Manor Campsite offers setting and scenery in abundance. Located off a very quiet country lane you are much more likely to encounter horses passing by than vehicles. There are various walks and footpaths available for those looking to stretch their legs. There is a variety of wildlife that calls Chesney Manor home including swans and deer to name a few. There is plenty of space for everyone so you will not feel crowded and will be free to enjoy the incredible setting. Chesney Manor, first recorded in the Doomsday Book, consists of 22 acres of parkland, medieval lakes and a Manor House situated in the quiet Oxfordshire village of Barford St Michael. There is a lovely, thatched pub, The George Inn, 0.2 miles or 5 minute walk down the road, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. 2.4 miles away is the market town of Deddington, host to several restaurants and shops including Eagles Fine Foods, an independent butcher, delicatessen and bread and pastry shop. Both Barford St Michael and Deddington hosts a market once a month. Great Tew is also one of the next villages featuring the famous Quince and Clover, Soho Farmhouse and Falkland Arms as featured in Mobland.

What customers say

This campsite's a peaceful gem, brimming with nature and wildlife. Guests loved the quiet, friendly owner who handled motorhomes on hard standing for wet fields, and the nearby pub. A chemical disposal point is missing but known. Future developments are expected.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Set on the edge of the small village of Barford St. Michelle Oxfordshire is a hidden gem of a campsite. Wild camping -at the moment as no facilities - but great things are going to happen.
It is such an idyllic site. A moat surrounds the old manor house. With other large ponds dotted around. Plenty to see and do, otters in the ponds ducks, Moorhens dragonflies, swans and bats and deer. Plenty of rest and relaxation. If you don’t feel like cooking the village pub the George is five minutes walk up the road. It is definitely a place to go to and is going to be amazing with the new ideas the owner has.

Disliked Nothing superb quiet place.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked You'd be hard pressed to find somewhere more idyllically English!

This place is absolutely beautiful. Green things in abundance, lakes, country lanes, stunning scenery with all the analogous bells and flowery whistles.

To top it off there is a genuinely surprising variety of wildlife and what a boon it is to have such a lovely local pub just a stone's throw away!

The hosts were communicative and informative & I had space in abundance - that along with the aforementioned wonderfully pleasant conditions resulted in an absolutely marvellous time.

I'll be back for sure, thanks guys!
