  • Well-maintained grass pitches at a Nottinghamshire organic farm
  • Crich Tramway Village and Nottingham within a half-hour drive
  • Easy access from the A610 and M1; farm shop on site
If eating well is an integral part of your break, then it’s likely you’ll be most pleased with the offerings at Trinity Farm Organic Camping, just outside the Nottinghamshire village of Awsworth (about 20 minutes' drive from Nottingham). They’ve been running an organic and biodynamic farm here for more than 30 years, setting up market gardens, orchards and greenhouses among the woodlands and meadows that surround the place. It’s a peaceful and well-maintained place where you’ll get a bit of an insight into life as a grower – and maybe even pick up a couple of tips… The produce from the gardens supplies the site's mini organic supermarket, which is packed with tasty things to eat and drink along with an excellent range of everyday items and fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Organic takeaway coffee, tea and cold drinks are also available from the shop, along with tasty cakes and snacks. Barbecues are allowed on site if you’d rather do your own cooking. Getting to this rural spot should be straightforward as it’s only a couple of minutes’ drive from the nearest A road (and about 10 minutes from the M1). Pitches are fairly simple in style but have access to showers and toilet facilities.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Beautifully quiet site with an amazing farm shop and cafe which serves the most delicious food! The toilet was kept clean and shower lovely and hot. The camp fire area was also a plus. Would definitely camp here again.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Very friendly welcome, the site facilities were spotlessly clean. Lovely organic farm shop and cafe. Pitched in the main field, very quiet. Lots of space. Near to washing up and showers and toilets. Dog friendly .

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Friendly arrival, cafe on site but a little pricey, pitches were quite big but there wasn't many people in the field. Quite peaceful and relaxing farm style vibe.

Disliked: Advertises facilities but these are very basic. A portaloo, an actual toilet, basic pot washing sink and a luke warm shower that's a little grotty and unloved. Paid £35 for a night in a van, not worth more than £20. Facilities far better on other sites for far less, it's that basic there's not really any point in having them. Can imagine that if the site were busy there wouldn't be much room for your pitch

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Great location to take some days off. Quiet, nature all around you and very friendly people responsible for the campsite, the cafe and the shop. The facilities are basic but sufficient. The staff ist very nice with children, campfire and chicken feeding just as two examples. Breakfast at the cafe? Perfect!

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely grassy area to pitch in, with some hard standing. Very peaceful Owner was helpful and friendly On site organic shop and cafe selling fresh food and great coffee

Disliked: Track to the camping area is a bit bumpy. Waiting for signage to toilet, shower, and waste bins. At £30 per night perhaps a bit expensive for the basic facilities.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Friendliness of the owners and other people working there. Close to Nottingham (park your car at Phoenix metro station and catch the metro into town. One two-way ticket is valid all day). Organic, biodynamic fruits and vegetables you can buy onsite. The camping has opened five weeks ago, so don't expect much from the facilities, yet. Nevertheless, everything is clean and ready to go! Also big plus, in my opinion, is the owners are building a communal feel. A parallel society where like-minded humans can share in their aspirations. The tea room is a lovely area to start the day.

Disliked: I'm unsure if there was WiFi at the time my mother and I stayed there. Perhaps there is in the tea room/shop. (Didn't miss it anyway; I used my own data package.)
