Adventure play park
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

Large, well-located site with spacious pitches. Close to National Water Sports Centre & Nottingham. Facilities adequate, but cleanliness & modern washrooms need improvement. Some noise noted, especially weekends. Basic shop. Many would return.

Liked Lovely grounds, lots to do if that’s what you were there for… we weren’t so didn’t take advantage of all that was on offer
Nice big pitches well maintained
Friendly staff
Self check in - just turn up and pitch up!

Disliked Toilets were generally dirty and unkept
Possibly because we went toward end of summer but the facilities looked tired. I am by no means picky about facilities but chose not to shower at this particular site as a result of the state of the block
Sanitary bins were overflowing in several toilets
Only one block to serve whole campsite probably attributed to this

Liked The grounds were lovely and litter free, great location to the water sports centre .
The park was ok.

Disliked The toilet/shower blocks were disgusting!
The showers and toilets were not clean, it looked like they had never been cleaned.
It’s such a let down for the camping site! They need modernising and cleaning!

Liked I'm not sure why this park gets a lot of negative reviews. Shout out to Val who was very helpful in organising things both before and during out visit. Thanks Val!

We liked:
- Large pitches.
- Helpful staff.
- Tidy.
- Well laid out.

Disliked - One of the toilet blocks needs to be renovated. It just doesn't do the site justice.
- My wife said the womens' facilities weren't clean, but that could just be women being messier than men!

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We booked a hard standing without realising it was fully hard standing with any grass around. In arriving we realised it would not be suitable as it was loose stone with a baby, 8 year old and a dog. After going to reception we managed to switch to a grass pitch.

Disliked Facilities were horrendous, unclean full of cobwebs (watch your head!) even after them been apparently cleaned you wouldn’t think so.
Site advertises there is an amazing looking play park, in fact there is a small wooden one for younger children. The large play park is a 15 / 20 min walk away from the camp site passed the water, and up near the activity centre.

Has a very basic shop, but don’t rely on it as there isn’t much.

There is not a lot to do on the site. Maintenance prefer to remove the rope swings and stick built dens that children built because they where bored seen as the big park was not near by then clean up the massive amount of litter around site or spend a little more time cleaning the toilets/showers.

Has a massive amount of potential with the right management to arrange it.

Liked This campsite has the potential to be something good, but they’re not quite there yet.

Disliked We arrived on the Tuesday, never saw a member of staff. We put our tent up etc and went about our day. There was some rubbish left on the field we were in.
Went to the toilet block and all the sanitary bins in the ladies were completely full and tampons etc were thrown on top of the bins and at the sides of the toilets.
Friday/ Saturday the site filled up with people taking part in a triathlon event… only then did we see a member of staff come around to greet people arriving on site despite no one else in the week being greeted. Funnily enough, the sanitary bins were only emptied on the Friday.
There were no security patrols at night
We had a private field behind us that had a fire pit, men were walking past our tents until midnight- after chopping wood on the main road which was loud. Lots of people had firepits on Thursday night, we made one on Friday night baring in mind it was raised off the ground and on a heat proof mat and was told to put it out.
I probably wouldn’t stay here again, depending what field you are pitched in it’s quite a walk to the toilets particularly at night time.

Liked Lots of families which meant all the kids were entertained playing with eachother on the field.

Disliked Showers and toilets were absolutely disgusting 🤢

Inconsistent enforcement of rules by staff.
One night it was ok to have a BBQ - and many people did - but the next night staff were on patrol making everyone put them out.
