  • Peaceful off-grid site 15 minutes’ walk from the Trent Valley Way
  • A 20-minute drive from Belvoir Castle; 25 minutes from Nottingham
  • A scenic half-hour walk from pubs and restaurants; barbecues allowed
Peaceful, off-grid vibes and walks along the Trent Valley Way, yes please… Millview Camping is a completely off-grid site just 20 minutes’ drive from Nottingham city centre and 15 minutes’ walk from the 116-mile Trent Valley Way. With westerly views over the Trent Valley and in the shadows of a ruined 18th-century windmill, this is a peaceful and scenic place to take a break indeed… Well-positioned too, with a generous handful of pubs, restaurants and cafés a scenic 35 minutes’ walk away in Gunthorpe alongside the river Trent. Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham are five minutes’ drive away for any other amenities you might need (supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes). And if you’re after even more of a buzz, Nottingham city centre is 25 minutes’ drive away. Even with such good access to so many towns and the big city, the site itself is remote. It has 10 acres of hay meadows and woodlands for guests to explore and, of course, sublime sunsets over the valley. If you prefer to keep your whole stay pretty rural, the Vale of Belvoir and the historic Belvoir Castle are 20 minutes’ drive away from the site. It’s no frills here. The grass and woodland pitches have facilities including water, basic flushing toilets and hot showers. Dogs are also permitted, as are barbecues.

What customers say

A tranquil, tidy site with an "off-grid" vibe, boasting flush toilets & water. Enjoy scenic country views (especially sunsets!) & pick your own spot. Friendly owner praised. Some note long wet grass & distance to loos for non-electric. Toilet lights & shower temperament mentioned, but new showers added April '26. Access track improved.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Tranquil and a break from the hustle and bustle, pitch where you like and enjoy the freedom, nice comms from the owner via the phone checking everything was okay as they was away, someone did pop round again checking if all was good which it was, a mile walk to a pub which served food, it’s a no frills site which is my preferred stay so make sure you’ve got good lights in the evening/night, couple of toilets which serve their purpose, we really enjoyed the place and would definitely go back, thank you for a lovely much needed break 🙏👍

Disliked Shower could be a bit better but wasn’t a deal breaker

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Good communication from the beginning of our stay, able to park anywhere within specified areas. Gorgeous sunset and lovely walks in the meadow, really quiet where we chose to park. Just a beautiful location and close to market towns

Disliked Only two toilets which I felt concerned that a good pull on the toilet door would leave me exposed ! Need a vacant sign, one of the toilets had a broken seat/lid I’m not blaming the owners at all as it would have been a guest.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Great site. I went midweek and it was very peaceful and quiet. Its just find a spot and pitch where you want arrangement, I got a nice spot near the woodland bit. A basic site with pot washing facility, and a couple of shower and toilet cubicles which where clean. It was exactly what I needed. Id definitely use again.

Disliked A bit pricey for a no frills site.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely, informal feeling, campsite. Pitched for one night in the woodland bit with plenty of shade. Friendly greeting. Nice and close to nottingham but definitely countryside - saw hares…. There looks to be good facilities at the top of the site and I can imagine it’s nice and buzzy when it’s busy, but I went midweek and I loved the quiet and simplicity of the woodland pitches.

Disliked Nothing. Everything was ‘as advertised’.

Local attractions

What setting might you have for a hike? Perhaps the green slopes of The Vale of Belvoir (20 minutes’ drive), where there are walks like the Barkestone Circular, Denton Reservoir and Stathern Wood. Sightseeing might count as a walk of sorts too, and there’s plenty of that to get stuck into around here. In Nottingham (25 minutes), take your pick of the castle, Wollaton Hall, art gallery and typical city centre attractions. Over in Southwell (20 minutes), you can follow up a visit to the minster by dining on local eats. Newark-on-Trent (20 minutes) has a castle too, plus an air museum. Handily, historic sites are easy to track down outside of the cities and towns. An old estate made to look like a castle with turrets, Belvoir Castle (20 minutes) now has a playground, pop-up markets, grand gardens and a whole shopping village. Newstead Abbey (half an hour), once the home of the poet Lord Byron, has 300 acres of gorgeous parkland. Or in the National Trust’s The Workhouse (20 minutes), you can take a look at the inside of a Victorian workhouse where the poor were once housed.
