  • Family-run site on a working farm in Northamptonshire
  • Castles, stately homes and woodland walks all within a 20-minute drive
  • Farm shop and café selling local produce; 10 minutes' walk from a pub
Find fab nosh and forest walks on this family-run working farm site in Northamptonshire: New Lodge Farm Caravan and Camping Site is a peaceful and spacious spot in the Rockingham Forest, a once-vast wooded area that was William the Conqueror’s favourite hunting ground. Whatever you’re chasing, the mix of medieval castles, market towns and ancient woodlands teeming with wildlife makes for rich pickings… Surrounded by fields, with the skies visited by a large resident population of red kites, you’ll feel right out in nature here. Dogs are welcome as well, and there’s a one-acre walking area set aside, taking you and canine companions down to the duck ponds. The farm shop and café are bursting with local produce to relish or to pack as picnics on your rambles round the area. Barbecues are allowed and there’s a mighty good selection of farm-fresh lamb, beef and pork for you to buy at the shop. For more supplies, it’s a 10-minute walk into Bulwick, where there’s a village store selling basics and a cracking good pub with hot food. Preserving a strong sense of the past, the team at New Lodge Farm Caravan and Camping Site have converted the old Victorian milking parlour into a block containing bright and roomy washrooms with showers, a laundry and a washing-up area.

What customers say

New Lodge Farm, adults-only, gets rave reviews for spotless facilities, roomy sites, and superb staff. Clean washrooms, a great farm shop, and tasty cafe/restaurant food are big pluses. Swim spa and dog field a hit! Minor road noise noted, but most love it & come back.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice clean site, staff very friendly and nice views

Disliked Would be nice to not have to walk through farm shop to sit in outside terrace for the cafe - howver, this was a minor niggle.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything, one of our favourite sites. This isn’t a small site but it well spaced out, large pitches and great facilities. The farm shop, cafe and the fruit/veg and plant stall outside are all great additions along with the added luxury of the swim spa. Great on site dog walk and also a nice walk to the local pub. Also the local area is great to get out and explore.

Liked What a fantastic site! We were greeted on arrival (sorry, I can’t remember their name!) and given some great, friendly advice, which included the emergency contact number. We were able to choose our own pitch, which was lovely, and not long after arriving we were checked on to make sure everything was okay.

You could always see someone going around the site in a buggy, so there was always help nearby if needed, but the whole place felt so relaxed and peaceful. The site was incredibly quiet, which was just amazing!

The restaurant was reasonably priced, and the steak cooked on a hot stone is an absolute must! We also enjoyed the pizza night on Saturday, which was delicious.

For the dogs, there’s a small enclosed dog field where they can have a run off lead and enjoy a good sniffari — enough to keep the pooches very happy! 🐾

Showers and toilets lovely and clean warm and some music also. 💗

We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended! ❤️

Power optional grass campervan or tent campsite (maximum 7 metres)

Liked Great campsite, the grass pitches were mainly level with a few bumps which is to be expected. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved that it had a farmshop and cafe/ bar on site and our dog loved the dog field too. It's location is great, with nearby supermarkets and dog walking areas.

Disliked It's not a dislike but something to point out. There is traffic noise from A43, but this did not affect our stay, as it became white noise. However, for those people who aren't used to traffic noise then this is not the site for you.

Liked Having been to this site numerous times, again our stay this time was amazing. Absolutely our go to site for a quick break. Friendly welcome on arrival and warden happy to assist.
Showers and facilities are spotless, restaurant & bar area really good too.
Tent pitches are huge and well marked out, water and electric easy to obtain. WiFi is brilliant too
Although we didn’t use it this time, the spa hot tub is a must!

Disliked Not a dislike at all but we had to borrow an electric extension as the electric was too far away - so depending on tent pitch you may need an extension.

Local attractions

One of England’s smaller counties, Northamptonshire packs a lot in to a small area, and it’s particularly well supplied with historic dwellings. The richly decorated but roofless Kirby Hall, the half-finished Elizabethan manor surrounded by wildflower meadows at Lyvden New Bield and the sturdy grandeur of 900-year-old Rockingham Castle can all be explored within a 20-minute drive. If walks and wildlife are your thing, you’ll be similarly well sorted: make for Fermyn Wood Country Park (15 minutes) to see what the whole Rockingham Forest area must once have looked like, taking circular trails to spot badgers and fallow deer. A similar distance away, Bedford Purlieus National Nature Reserve buzzes with bird and insect life, among the remains of Roman and medieval quarries and smelting houses. A 20-minute drive away, the nature reserve at Rutland Water is paired with a massive outdoor leisure area for swimming, walking, sailing, fishing and windsurfing. If you’re more into petrol power, it’s 15 minutes to Rockingham Speedway for regular race meets, track experiences and vintage rallies. Heading further out (in every way), it's 50 minutes from the site to the National Space Centre in Leicester. While you're there, take in the King Richard III Visitor Centre and pay your respects to the last Plantagenet king, who now rests in the cathedral, and make time for a mooch round the 700-year-old market.
