  • Touring pitches at a 12-acre country park on the edge of Spilsby
  • Close to Lincolnshire Wolds walks; 20 minutes' drive to Skegness
  • Five fishing lakes on site, with bait shop and accessible platforms
If you like to have a fishing lake on site when you’re travelling in your tourer, it’s fair to say that you’ll probably be very happy indeed with a stay at Woodlands Fishery, on the edge of the Lincolnshire town of Spilsby. And that’s because this 12-acre country park is home to a peaceful carp and coarse fishery complex that’s got not one, not even two, but a splendid five different lakes for pleasure anglers to choose from. Owners Pam and Keiran always do their utmost to ensure this is a top-notch experience for all guests, keeping the lakes well stocked with carp, perch, bream, tench, rudd and other species. You’ll need to bring a licence along if you’d like to fish, and agree to the catch-and-release policy; tackle and baits are available at the shop, along with snacks and drinks, and there are accessible platforms so everyone can join the fishing fun. Not into fishing? No problem – there are plenty of other ways to fill your time nearby. The site is on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with lots of lovely footpaths to follow for scenic walks, and there are attractions nearby like the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre or the National Trust’s Gunby Estate. And as Skegness is a mere 20 minutes’ drive away there’s also scope for a day at the seaside. Closer to home, a 10-minute walk takes you to the town centre for shops, cafés, takeaways and the Monday market. Facilities on site include a launderette, a washing-up area and a toilet block with underfloor heating. Touring pitches all have electric and water supplies plus waste disposal.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We were met with a warm welcome by Pam the owner and shown to our pitch. Pam explained all relevant information that we may need during our stay.
The campsite is very well kept with the amenities block being one of the best we have seen, there are 2 showers and 2 toilets in both the ladies and gents and a disabled toilet. The washing up area is spacious and provided with washing up liquid. It would benefit from a bin to empty the waste that collects in the plug basket.
The fishing lakes are well stocked.
Both Pam and her son Kieron were available if needed and on their evening walks with their dogs stopped to chat with campers.
As a new site Pam and Kieron have tried to think of everything to make stays as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and have done a great job.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything. The location is great. A more rural setting but 20 minutes from Skegness and a 5 minute walk to the village which has plenty of shops and pubs.
The site is beautiful with fishing lakes.
The pitches are a good size and the shower and toilet facilities were immaculate.
We booked very last minute after being let down by another site but the owner was more than accommodating and even gave us pegs for our tent as we weren’t prepared for the hard standing pitch.
The site is very peaceful and relaxing and the owners are brilliant.
I would 100% recommend this site and will definitely be returning next time I visit
The east coast.

FHU cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked The location is perfect; a peaceful setting which is fabulous for those wanting to fish but great if you just want to read a book and enjoy watching the wildlife.
The owners are welcoming and always around if you need anything.
The facilities are excellent. The showers are modern and spotless. Pitches are large and fully serviced.
Ten minutes walk to Spilsby which has good cafés and two small supermarkets. We originally booked for two nights but stayed an extra night (we would have stayed longer if we'd been able)

Local attractions

Drive north for a few minutes and you’ll reach the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape, a lovely area for walks among low hills. If you’re more of a stroller than a hiker, maybe you’d prefer a wander around one of the local heritage attractions – with a drive of 10 minutes you can get to either the ruins of 13th-century Bolingbroke Castle (birthplace of Henry IV) or the grander Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens, with walled gardens, elaborate interiors and a rather nice tea room. For a different kind of history, head to Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (10 minutes’ drive), which has exhibits about World War II Bomber Command including a Lancaster bomber. Fancy some sea air? It’s a 20-minute drive to Skegness for a walk along the beach, a go on the rides at the amusement park and a visit to Natureland Seal Sanctuary. A little way south of the town, Gibraltar Point (25 minutes’ drive) is a popular location for birdwatchers; you might also spot seals here sometimes.
