  • Family-friendly Lincolnshire caravan park at Chapel St Leonards
  • Ingoldmells Beach 15 minutes’ walk; Fantasy Island 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fishing (additional fee) and tackle shop; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Tucked into the seaside village of Chapel St Leonards, 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast, Lakeland Caravan Park is a family-run and family-friendly caravan park that's somewhat removed from the busy main east-coast seaside resorts. Being a popular place, this site still gets busy during the school holidays, so if you’re after a quieter sojourn, it's best to book for spring or autumn. But whichever month you choose for your break, you'll be staying on a well-drained pitch with electric hook-up, and you can use toilets, showers and washing-up facilities in the brick facilities block, which has disabled access. Dogs are welcome and can be walked on Ingoldmells Beach (15 minutes’ stroll). Having the beach nearby is excellent of course, and another one of the big draws at this site is the fishing– there's a lake within the grounds where, for an additional fee, anglers can cast out their lines most days. Twice-weekly matches are open to all caravan site guests, too, but just note that the lake will be closed for all other fishing on these two days. There’s a very well-stocked tackle shop selling fresh bait and everything from budget rod-and-reel deals to get novices started to fishing gear from top brands. Sea fishing is also available from Ingoldmells Beach. Anything else you might need? There are shops, lots of pubs, amusement arcades and night-time entertainment all within 10 minutes’ drive of the pitches.

What customers say

Great spot near the beach, with helpful staff. Spacious, level pitches. Clean but basic facilities, with some noting the toilet block's distance and showers needing work. Popular fishing lake. Despite minor noise/goose issues, it's peaceful, well-priced, and guests want to come back.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Beautiful location, friendly staff

Disliked Amenities where of a very low standard, and desperately need updating. The site had extremely loud customers shouting from early in the morning (6am). The price your charged doesn't reflect what you get.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nice pitch size and close to the beach

Disliked Customer service didn’t really feel welcomed.
Felt more like an inconvenience
Could do with a separate toilet block for the tent campers.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Great place for reaching beach and local shops.
Very relaxing as a small site thought it might be noisy. But no.
Was chilled out and enjoyed the sunshine.
Site was kept immaculate.
Facilities were kept top notch. Just a little thing showers needed a squeege to clear water away as showers got very slippery.
Fishermen would think the Lake fishing was paradise.

Liked Great location, right next to the beach, short walk into the local town where you’ll find loads of bars and places to eat

Disliked Site can be noisy due to being popular with families

Toilet and showers need a good refurb, given how popular the site is they should have the funds to do this.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great location for beach and short walk to shops/bars. Nice fishing pond feature. Peaceful site. Bathroom/pot-washing/water block pretty good. Parking space for visitors which is a nice touch.

Disliked Bits of litter/rubbish around the site which could easily be tidied up.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Close to the sea.

Disliked Felt very cramped. Waiting in a queue for a shower because there was only 2. Very outdated W/C. Because everyone is so close together you can hear peoples conversations until 5:00am

Local attractions

Fan of bright lights and big amusements? The famed Fantasy Island theme park (10 minutes’ drive) in Skegness opens up stalls and rides when summertime hits. There’s more action over at Skegness Pier (20 minutes), including bowling and laser tag games. If you’re keener to avoid crowds and unwind on quiet sands, Sutton on Sea (20 minutes) should do the trick with its long sandy beach. Another secluded bay is Huttoft beach (15 minutes), a quiet stretch where many folk like to go surfing, swimming and fishing. Inland, take your hiking boots off to the trails of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (20 minutes). For some wildlife watching, there are a couple of really nice spots within a short drive of the park. The first is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes), a seasonal habitat for waders, wildfowl and birds of prey set back along the coast. The other is Natureland Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), a centre that rescues seal pups. Other adorable residents include alpacas, penguins, reptiles and colourful butterflies, so there should be plenty to feast your eyes on.
