  • Quiet site between River Lee Country Park and RSPB Rye Meads
  • A 20-minute walk from Hoddesdon; 30 minutes to Rye House train station
  • Bicycle hire, countryside views and shop on site
Folks who like wildlife, cycling and country views will surely like the idea of settling down between RSPB Rye Meads and River Lee Country Park in Hertfordshire. That's where Park Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir conveniently sits, surrounded by green countryside and bordered by a river on one side where guests can go fishing during the fishing season. After hiring a bicycle from the site, it's only a 10-minute cycle to the River Lee Country Park's boat centre, next to a pub and café. The country park has a lovely network of cycling and walking trails, as well as a wildlife discovery centre (20 minutes' cycle), a white water centre and a disc golf course (both half an hour's cycle). Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir is also a doddle to get to, especially for London dwellers. It's half an hour's walk away from Rye House train station, where there's a direct 35-minute train to London Liverpool Street station. The centre of Hoddesdon is also only a 20-minute walk away from the site, making getting out to supermarkets, restaurants and shops as easy as can be. There are plenty of handy amenities on site too, from the heated toilet and shower blocks (with wheelchair accessible toilets) to laundry facilities with drying and ironing and a chemical disposal point. Pitches are nicely spaced out, and dogs are welcome on site.

What customers say

Clean, well-kept site, great for London visits and riverside strolls. Staff are a highlight! Some facilities are a bit dated but clean and functional, with heated showers a plus. Level, spacious pitches are common. Watch out for goose droppings on grass.

Liked Location, walks next to water and fairly close station to get into London. Able to use Oyster card for cheaper travel. Facilities good but need better maintenance.

Disliked Didn't mind geese wondering around but grass on our pitch was covered in goose poo!

Power optional grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The washing facilities, toilets and showers were all clean and easily accessible. The campsite was in a good location for walking along the canals and rivers.

Disliked The shop was very limited and there were no nearby grocery shops within walking distance. As I didn't come with a car I had to get an Uber grocery delivery.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We have stayed here before location is great for my son. It’s an great area with lots of walking or bike riding to do by the canal. Very friendly and accommodating staff .

Disliked Only dislike was pitch up did not put our booking through to the site which meant we were not on a hard standing pitch . This was very disappointing as they could have let us down big time if the campsite was full.

Wee Brave wigwam (no pets)

Liked I came here for 2 nights, and everything was good and peaceful. The huts are as clean as home, and the whole environment is quiet. There is space to do BBQ, walk around in nature, and space to just sit down and have a snack. There is also a cafe, pub and a pathway (to walk) near Dobbs Weir

Note: I had to leave the key in the room, whilst checking out as I needed to take my younger relative to her GP appointment, I tried to check out at the reception but maybe I was a bit too early (it was around 8am); I'm really sorry if this caused any disruption, and created any extra work

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Very friendly staff. Clean facilities although a little dated. Nice level pitches. Good location and very handy for Broxbourne Train Station for access to central London, Cambridge etc.

Disliked Lots of Canadian Geese, meaning lots of mess, but this is to be expected where animals roam freely (as they should be able to do). This was no fault of the site and just mother nature doing her thing.

Disliked Goose poo everywhere, paid for electric hook up but was unable to use it as the power point was too far away and our 10m cable wouldn't reach.

Liked Level pitches

Disliked Very very disappointed by the fact that the barrier codes given didn’t work and as a result we have been fined for parking as the cameras picked up the vehicles we returned in but couldn’t access, the emergency buzzer was not answered because reception was closed and no one answered the emergency phone number another person was trying to call. The site refuse to speak to parking eye on my behalf even though they agree the barrier was not working, 3x£60 fines over 3 days I have spoken with them and they are very unconcerned although I requested to bring our van on the request box of the booking form through pitchup which was ignored and they are blaming pitchup for this, saying this wasn’t sent through for them to reply . I would not recommend staying here for this reason.
