  • Quiet site between River Lee Country Park and RSPB Rye Meads
  • A 20-minute walk from Hoddesdon; 30 minutes to Rye House train station
  • Bicycle hire, countryside views and shop on site
Folks who like wildlife, cycling and country views will surely like the idea of settling down between RSPB Rye Meads and River Lee Country Park in Hertfordshire. That's where Park Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir conveniently sits, surrounded by green countryside and bordered by a river on one side where guests can go fishing during the fishing season. After hiring a bicycle from the site, it's only a 10-minute cycle to the River Lee Country Park's boat centre, next to a pub and café. The country park has a lovely network of cycling and walking trails, as well as a wildlife discovery centre (20 minutes' cycle), a white water centre and a disc golf course (both half an hour's cycle). Lee Valley Caravan Park Dobbs Weir is also a doddle to get to, especially for London dwellers. It's half an hour's walk away from Rye House train station, where there's a direct 35-minute train to London Liverpool Street station. The centre of Hoddesdon is also only a 20-minute walk away from the site, making getting out to supermarkets, restaurants and shops as easy as can be. There are plenty of handy amenities on site too, from the heated toilet and shower blocks (with wheelchair accessible toilets) to laundry facilities with drying and ironing and a chemical disposal point. Pitches are nicely spaced out, and dogs are welcome on site.

What customers say

This campsite boasts a brilliant, peaceful setting with friendly, helpful staff. Clean facilities, especially heated showers/toilets, are frequently praised. Spacious pitches, river/canal walks, and London access are highlights. Downsides include goose droppings and some dated facilities, plus occasional traffic/train noise.

Liked Good pitches , friendly staff, good location

Disliked Dog poo on our pitch when we arrived and lots more around the site. Clearly the site need to get more strict on this issue. Haven't seen as much dog poo for years. Disgraceful!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review - it's great to hear our staff were friendly and the site was all that you needed. We're sorry you encountered an issue with dog mess and we have shared this with the team onsite to look into.

Liked camping bastante aceptable, buena limpieza y muy tranquilo

Disliked la distancia que hay que recorrer andando para coger el tren a Londres, treinta minutos por un bosque, o un Uber te lleva en diez minutos por unas diez libras

Big Chief wigwam (no pets)

Liked The Big Chief Wigwam was excellent for us as a family of 4. Spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The decked area and picnic bench were also a great touch. Fridge and portable hob for food and cooking, toaster, kettle and cutlery - we only needed to bring bedding.
The toilets were clean and tidy.

Disliked The exterior of the fridge was rusted and didnt look great, but the interior was clean it worked fine.
Some of the other guests were intimidating, particularly those with an aggressive dog, but this is not something the site can control, I guess.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review and it was great to hear that you loved the camping pod. The team will take a look at the fridge and check it out. We do have rules in place regarding dogs on site, if at anytime you have concerns regarding behaviour please flag them to a member of our team. We hope to see you again soon

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Brilliant location, an oasis of nature. Relaxing base for exploring.

We used it as a base to go to a concert at White Hart Lane. Easy journey from the local station into London. Uber picked us up at the main gate.

Disliked Toilet and shower doors were difficult or impossible to lock. The whole cubicle system needs some maintenance to rectify this issue. A shame as there are LOADS of toilets and showers on offer, just not usable.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your great review and we’re glad to hear you had a fantastic time! We have passed your comments regarding the issues with the locks on some of the cubicle doors onto the team onsite for them to look into We hope this won't deter you from staying with us again.

Liked Loved the location
Quite
Nice showers

Disliked Disliked the fact that
There is a lot of goose pooh around ,
Would be nice if the site
Would clear it up ?,
If they know you going there to clear it up
As you lay down the awning on Pooh
Not nice the disadvantage

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that there was an too much goose poo around your pitch, our riverside site seems to be a favourite with geese too. I've shared your comments with the team onsite for them to look at what they can do.

Liked Nothing! Felt a deliberate act to get more money

Disliked Be aware if you don’t put in your reg at the terminal you will get a parking fine. We were not told, we now have a £100 fine to pay. BAD receptionist.
Greese poo! everywhere. Busy road, very noisy! Won’t be going back!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We’re sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay at our site. We do have parking cameras within our site and parking is free for anyone staying with us. At point of booking with Pitch Up, customers are requested to put their car registration numbers in, are reminded again when they receive a pre-visit email from us as well as there being signage throughout the site. It is our normal process that our reception team remind customers when they arrive about car registration numbers too. As a site surrounded by water we are very popular with the local geese population and this inevitably leads to poo on the grass areas, we regularly mow the grass to disperse the dropping.
