  • Quiet rural Herefordshire site near the River Wye
  • A 15-minute drive from Hay-on-Wye and the Offa’s Dyke Path
  • Walking trails nearby; five minutes' drive from a farm shop
Sling a trusty bag over your shoulder, grab some sturdy shoes and round up your co-adventurers, as walking trails, mountains and market towns are on the cards from Letton Campground. Close to the River Wye and surrounded by the quiet Herefordshire countryside, this site is well-based for diving into the Wye Valley scenery. A literary plunge is more the tune in Hay-on-Wye (15 minutes’ drive away) – but as well as having famed bookshops and great places to eat, there are also canoes and paddleboards for hire. Back on drier land, national trails crisscross this part of the countryside: the Wye Valley Walk is five minutes’ drive away and the Offa’s Dyke Path is 15 minutes’ drive away. As you'd expect from this setting, the views are pretty splendid (think hills and open farmland with the River Wye running nearby). The site has immediate access to the road going between Hereford and Brecon, so as well as being in a relaxing spot, you’ll be well-connected to other destinations – and a farm shop is five minutes’ drive away if you’re looking for some fresh produce to eat.

What customers say

Well-kept, quiet, adult-only site with great, modern facilities, including roomy showers. Level, spacious pitches. On-site pub serves good food, but hours vary. Some mention traffic noise & limited nearby walks. Despite minor cleaning/WiFi comments, guests found it a good base & plan to return.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Large pitches with electricity and water at the pitch.
The showers were a good size and each had a toilet and basin in too.
The honesty shop was a nice touch
A good base for days out to the stunning surroundings

Disliked Sadly things had been let go, we arrived on Monday no one answered the phone even though those were the instructions on arrival and no returned call to voicemail. The bins outside were over flowing and the bathroom bins were half full.
One shower was broken. You couldn’t have two showers or a toilet flushed at same time otherwise shower went freezing and took ages to warm up again.
The owner did come back and what a difference, the now full bathroom bins were emptied, the showers cleaned but sadly this was the only time in the 6 days we were there. The owner had been away with work for two weeks. We may have just hit at a bad time

Powered grass campervan campsite

Liked Very friendly, well maintained campsite that offers level grass pitches with water and electric hook up at a resonble cost.
On site wash facilities are good with a big fridge for those without.
The on sute shop is tiny with an honesty box but a welcome addition.
Showers are clean and well maintained but water pressure is poor.
Near main road but not noisey.
Decent WiFi.

Disliked Pitches were not clearly marked.

Powered cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Easy access to some good site seeing.

Disliked Nobody was there to meet us or answer the phone when we arrived. Just had to set up and deal with it the next day. If i was in a tent I wouldn't have been quite so happy.

Showers were either very cold, not running or very hot. No in-between.

Powered grass campervan campsite

Liked I'd read some of the reviews beforehand and noted that the pub has now closed, but people were turning up surprised and disappointed with it not being open.

I loved this little site, it was quiet, peaceful and very well kept. The shower / toilet block was immaculate and spotlessly clean, with a wash up area and some essential items and snacks, payment by an honesty box.

As I had limited time, I arrived at 2pm and stayed for just one night, I didn't really have time to explore the area, but I know it slightly, and there are some lovely walks and cycle trails nearby.

I'm not sure how quiet or busy it gets, but my short time there was very enjoyable and quiet. I'd definitely recommend to others and I hope to return soon.

Cheers.

Andrew.

Liked Lovely quiet campsite with excellent facilities (showers/toilets) and shop with honesty box which was nice. Although the pub is closed - the host recommended a lovely Italian nearby - by the River, which was very peaceful. Will definitely return.

Local attractions

Walking’s certainly one of the go-to pursuits around here, but what kind of trails will you be clobbering? For those long-distance routes, the 136-mile Wye Valley Walk (five minutes’ drive) passes hills and the river, while the 177-mile Offa's Dyke Path (15 minutes) traces the border between Wales and England. There are challenging mountain paths up in the Black Mountains (an hour and 20 minutes) and for easier-going walking or cycling routes through village landscapes, the Black and White Trail (five minutes) should fit the bill. Of course, the Brecon Beacons National Park (50 minutes) is another hiking hub, but other outdoor activities are in full flow here too, from caving to gorge walking. When you fancy sprinkling some history into your stay, Arthur's Stone (10 minutes) has a decent helping, in the form of a Neolithic tomb linked to King Arthur. Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes) has a castle, or there are museums dotted around Hereford (20 minutes), a nice pairing with a distillery trip or shopping outing. And to round off your historical route, perhaps the National Trust’s The Weir Garden (10 minutes) might serve as a digestif, as this historic garden was once under Roman settlement.
