Grass pitches

  • Peaceful farm site with pitches in a well-maintained orchard
  • On the edge of the Malvern Hills, 30 minutes' drive from Gloucester
  • Dog-friendly site; five minutes' drive from the motorway network
Beat a retreat from your workaday cares at Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site, a well-maintained spot close to where the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire borders meet. With spacious pitches, quiet orchard surrounds and easy access to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty all sorted, all that remains is for you to pack up your kit and drive over here – a task made splendidly straightforward by the fact that this site's a mere five-minute drive from the speedy M50. Once you've pulled up at this rural spot, you could spend days cloud-gazing in the orchard, tramping through the Malvern Hills (perhaps with a dog or two in tow) or visiting cathedral cities like Gloucester (30 minutes' drive) and Worcester (35 minutes). After jam-packed sightseeing jaunts (or days of nothing but sweet repose…), hungry stomachs can be satisfied with a barbecue on site or treated to chef-cooked grub at the nearest pub (40 minutes on foot or a five-minute drive). Provisions for self-prepped meals can be picked up in nearby Ledbury (15 minutes). As is expected when staying at a small-scale farm, here you can expect peace, quiet and splendid views, but you won't come back to base to find a chocolate on your pillow. Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site is relatively low on frills, but key facilities like composting toilets, showers and a washing-up area are all on hand.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Location suited us and the campsite was quiet.

Disliked: The field we pitched in was covered in animal droppings, a walk to the toilet was like a game of hop scotch . Not enough toilets / showers for the amount of campers and they were dated and inadequate.
Cleanliness generally throughout the site was poor.

From the manager: So pleased you are the absolute minority.

If you had any issues you could have rung me.

It's strikes me you should put you hand in your pocket and stay in a hotel. Rather than that you go budget and stay on a livestock farm.

I will put you on the list to be blocked.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Quiet well kept field with electric hookup, plenty of room between pitches, great location, Malvern Hills and riverside villages within 10-15mins drive

Disliked: Washroom facilities basic, but more importantly poor unclean condition. OK if you're in a motorhome or caravan abd happy to use own bathroom but otherwise disappointing.

From the manager: We didn't have anyone make any contact with respect any issues.

It's a shame people prefer to suffer then complain after.

We will try harder.!!

PLEASE folks if you come tell US if there are any issues

Thanks

Ok but needs money spending on the facilities, wouldn’t recommend.

Liked: Countryside and food location

Disliked: No hot water for showers or washing up for 2 days, had to take cold showers.

From the manager: I have to comment on your review:-

We don't provide accomadation we provide a mown pitch of grass for you to bring your accomadation to.

Customer service if you had something you needed assistance with we would have been delighted to assist if we could.

WiFi if you had searched for WiFi and entered you email address ( no password) you would have had free high speed WiFi

We are curious that you have said you would recommend Berrends and in fact would come back. It makes me have to ask the question WHY if we got so much wrong.

From the manager: Thanks for booking really appreciate it.

Hope you come here again.

I think it's the first 9/10 rating !!

Berrends Farm doesn't increase the rating overall unless it a 9 or 10.

A good rating makes it worth all the effort.

We are hoping to get a ranking of at least 9 which is tough 8 is a good average but that pulls us down..

Local attractions

Set out for a recce of the Malvern Hills (five minutes' drive) and it shouldn't take long to find a spot to stretch your legs. Hollybush car park (10 minutes) is a pretty good place to start – here there are two scenic circular trails that can also be walked as a figure of eight if you're feeling energetic. It’s also half an hour to Symonds Yat for kayaking on the Wye, climbing and seeking out the peregrine falcons, goshawks and other raptors that breed on top of the rock. The Gloucester branch of the National Waterways Museum (30 minutes) is within a comfortable distance too if you'd prefer interactive exhibits and a narrowboat cruise. You'll likely want to be outdoors as much as poss when in these parts, so earmark some time for visits to Eastnor (10 minutes) and Goodrich castles (25 minutes). Trips over the border into Wales should also be on your radar if you're tempted to explore the overgrown ruins of Grosnor Castle (45 minutes), the handsome market town of Abergavenny (50 minutes) or the Brecon Beacons National Park (from 45 minutes).
