Pub

  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked The management team were super friendly and approachable , the pitch sizes are spacious , clean and level , the toilet / shower rooms are clean , modern and tidy, the pub is lovely and clean and welcoming , the chef was super helpful as my son has a shellfish and nut allergy and he talked it through with me and made him a shellfish and nut safe food last minute as I asked for emergency last minute meal at kitchen closing Time( long story ) and he didn’t make me feel like a inconvenience at all in fact the chef and staff bent over backwards to be helpful and friendly ,
Honest to god , I camp a lot and have 2 fussy kids and I have OCD around germs and cleaning and we all agreed it is the best site we have ever been to , HIGHLY recommend.
Showers are free and powerful and good temp control

Disliked The taps on the wash basin don’t stay on long enough to wash hands which is really annoying as you can’t soap up and rinse hands together as it stays on for like 5 seconds !! So I had to keep pressing and washing off soap one had at a time , even 15 seconds would be better please ,

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as a historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills National Landscape, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
