Pub

  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

What customers say

Friendly, well-kept site, spacious, level pitches. Clean, modern washrooms. Great on-site pub with big portions & welcoming staff. Convenient for exploring, though some found limited nearby walks & occasional road noise. Popular stopover, especially for those heading to/from the South West.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked We stayed here for one night. We wanted a peaceful time to just chill.
Our arrival was welcoming, informative and we advised of some large booking in the pub/resturant that evening so we were able to book as had bought nothing to eat as chilling.
The food we ordered was delicious and plentiful and the best fillet steak we've ever eaten with a really tasty sauce and garlic butter. Compliments to the chef!!
Vegetables were al dente as should be and not your usual side of peas!
Lovely friendly staff.

Campsite is small and basic but just what we wanted. Shower/toilet rooms were clean and modern, only slight criticism would be is a small shelf by the sink would be great for your washbag.

There is no dog field on site but there are footways to enjoy and many cycle routes if wanted which our neighbours informed us about.

Disliked Only niggle is the padlock entry/exit to camp area is a paddlock on double metal gates I found difficult due to sight loss and dexterity, thankfully it was not raining as would have been drenched.
Next time will get hubby to do it especially if raining haha!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Superb pub site. Ideally located for walks in the surrounding countryside and bike rides. Tewkesbury Abbey is 5 miles away by bike and gives access to great cycling around Bredon Hill.
The pitches are a good size.
The ablutions are first class and suitable for all year use.
Each of the 5 toilet and shower rooms has a mop and bucket, so campers can clean up if the “talcum powder monster” has paid a visit and deal with any splashes and footprints- brilliant idea!
The Hunter’s Inn has very friendly, attentive and help staff. Lunches and evening meals are excellent.
Top tip: Book your table in advance.

Disliked Nothing. Love it.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as a historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills National Landscape, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
