Pepper pot cafe bar

  • Green and spacious park in Gloucestershire
  • Seven miles to Sharpness Canal and Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust
  • On-site café-bar serving breakfast, coffee and lunch
Greenery and space are on the menu at The Pepper Pot Caravan Park near Dursley in Gloucestershire, which is kept tiptop by its on-site and friendly wardens, who live in and are on hand for any advice or help needed by Pepper Potters during their stay. Facilities are well-maintained and in a purpose-built shower and loo block; an indoor washing-up area and a coin-operated washing machine are also on site. But one of the greatest bits about The Pepper Pot Caravan Park? The Pepper Pot Café Bar, a place to get your mitts on traditional breakfasts, fresh coffee, light lunches and children's meals every morning and afternoon. This is a very decent spot to use as a base for exploring Gloucestershire and its surrounds, particularly for those who like their wildlife or historic homes. Two golf clubs are within a quick drive, as is Berkeley Castle (10 minutes' drive away) and the Cattle Country Farm Park (five minutes' drive).

What customers say

Clean, well-kept site with friendly, helpful staff (Nikki praised!). Spacious, level pitches, good facilities, hot showers. Pepper Pot pub/cafe nearby, a popular bonus. M5/rail noise is common but often fades into background. Pub hours/offerings can vary.

Liked Showers and Toilet block were clean
Area inside to wash cutlery etc

Disliked Pub was closed due to an electrical fault - An email pre-warning us would have been nice, as was told it had been closed for a few days.
Barrier was locked at 10pm and unlocked at 7am
Road onsite was gravel, therefore when people drove round dust would churn up. Not good when your sat outside by your area eating / drinking. Although the speed limit was 5mph, it was still dusty as people drove past.
Waste area was full and bins overflowing.
Pictures are deceiving, site is smaller than expected.
There is noise from the motorway, more noticeable at night - didn't keep us awake.

Liked Very good value
Friendly warden
Easy access to water and electricity
Was able to have a shower without having to wait
Great access to the Cotswolds National Landscape area, River Severn area, M5 motorway etc.,

Disliked Unfortunately, the Pepper Pot pub wasn't open, but we were given the card of another local pub which was the "sister pub".
Although I had asked for our pitch to be close to the wash block, unfortunately that wasn't possible.
Very noisy due to being so close to the M5 motorway, but I knew that from seeing the location on the map.
Small campsite, quite crowded

Liked Lovely warden during our stay, toilets and showers very clean, site was also well laid out

Disliked Not happy that the public house was not open all weekend, we were informed on our arrival that it was closed due to problems.
We should have been informed before our arrival, this was one of our reasons for choosing this site

Liked Warm welcome, very friendly and very helpful service.
Well maintained site, clean well equipped toilet and washing facilities.
Easy for our son to drive in and meet us here, go out for the day, come back for a BBQ and then he can leave by 10pm. Or later if he has parked in the cafe car park. Just perfect for us.

Local attractions

The Pepper Pot Caravan Park is in a decent spot to use as a base for exploring Gloucestershire and its surrounds, particularly for those who like their wildlife or historic homes. Plenty of other activities and attractions can be found within ten miles. Two golf clubs are within a quick drive, the Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club two and a half miles away and the Cotswold Edge Golf Club within five. Also within a short drive are Berkeley Castle and the Vale of Berkeley (two and a half miles) and the Cattle Country Adventure Park (two miles) for yee-haw adventuring. Wildlife types have the River Severn Estuary and the Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust to explore within six and seven miles respectively, with more species to see at Oldown Country Park eight miles away; wildfowl and other critters along the nearby Gloucester to Sharpness Canal, and Dean Forest and the Wye Valley 11 miles from base. More into historic homes, local history or greenery? Take your Pepper Pot pick from the National Trust's Woodchester Mansion and park or Westbury Court Gardens (seven and 11 miles); Chavenage House and the National Arboretum at Westonbirt (both ten miles), or the National Waterways Museum at Gloucester Docks 16 miles away. The Pepper Pot team also recommends a punt at Chepstow Racecourse, 11 miles away; a look at the longest village green in England at Frampton On Severn nine and a half miles away, or a dip at Dursley Pool and Sports Centre within five and a half miles. For day trips, sink into some shopping and sightseeing at Bristol or spa city Bath.
