  • Motorhome site five minutes’ drive from Cinderford in Gloucestershire
  • Direct access to the Wysis Way; Puzzlewood 15 minutes’ drive
  • Single hardstanding pitch with rural views edging the Forest of Dean
Looking to park up for a night, or hanging around for adventures in the Forest of Dean? However long you stay, the tourer pitch at Forest Pitchup, five minutes’ drive from Cinderford in Gloucestershire, is a peaceful rural spot to lay your head, soothed by the burble of Old Engine Brook close by. What you’ll get here is a single hardstanding pitch with clearly signposted, easy access down a country lane for motorhomes. Simple facilities include a loo in a wooden hut, recycling, running water and grey waste disposal. There’s an alfresco dining area with views over the heather and gorse of the surrounding common land (keep a look out for wild boar and deer, especially at night), and a firepit for rustling up a barbecue (stock up on provisions in Cinderford supermarkets). Kids are welcome – there are a couple of playgrounds and a football field all within 25 minutes’ walk – as are any dogs, as they can be exercised along the Wysis Way, which runs across the neighbouring common. A handy 24-hour garage (five minutes) takes care of fuel and emergency supplies, and five minutes’ drive also takes you to pubs and takeaways in Drybrook village.

From the manager: Hi there Tatiana! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and some feedback, it's very much appreciated. Hope you and your dogs were able to enjoy some of the forest walks amongst the recent downpours... I decided also to add some fencing alongside the entrance to give an added sense of privacy. Local attractions

If you’re happy to explore the local area on foot, access the Wysis Way direct from your pitch for explorations of the Forest of Dean or longer tramps to the Severn Vale. Another local walk leads through Edgehills Nature Reserve (40 minutes’ walk) to St Antony’s Well (90 minutes), where you can cool off with a dip in a spring that’s thought to date from medieval times. Slightly further afield, outdoor adventures might take you to the Wye Valley National Landscape (10 minutes’ drive) for kayaking trips down the River Wye, or challenging cycling trails that lead to the landmark Symonds Yat Rock (two hours and 40 minutes by bike from your pitch). Looking for days out with the kids? Discover the wacky installations along the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail (10 minutes’ drive), or the moss-covered rocks and trees lining walkways at the mysterious Puzzlewood (15 minutes), where there’s also a small farm with donkeys to cuddle. When more high-octane activity is needed, involve the whole family in an active day on treetop rope courses and zipwires at Go Ape Mallards Pike (also 15 minutes).
