Fields for camping
Sunny day on the camping field
Looking towards brogborough lake on horseback

  • Simple pop-up site on a working farm 20 minutes’ drive from Bedford
  • Woburn Safari Park five minutes’ drive and Gulliver’s Land 15 minutes
  • Dog-friendly; access to the Greensand Ridge Walk; pub 10 minutes’ walk
If you’re up for a bit of back-to-basics camping and appreciate a good countryside view, Belvedere is 20 minutes’ drive from Bedford and comes up trumps on both counts. This pop-up site offers a neatly mown camping field with views over surrounding hills, forests and green fields. Facilities are minimal – a portable loo, waste point and fresh water tap – so you’ll have to be organised and bring in essentials like torches, batteries and barbecue kits. Once on site, however, you’ll soon be nicely relaxed. It’s based on a family-run equestrian farm, so you can watch the horses grazing happily in surrounding fields. The Greensand Ridge Walk goes right past the property (remember to pack your walking boots), meaning you can soon be out and about exploring the area. Belvedere is a dog-friendly site by the way, so any accompanying pooches can have a decent stretch of their paws too. By night, light a campfire, spark up the barbecue and watch the sunset. If you’d rather have someone else look after the cooking, there’s a thatched pub serving hearty food in Lidlington village (10 minutes’ walk), as well as a small store selling essentials if you’re running sort of anything.

Grass primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely spacious fields, perfect for walking on the Greensands ridge walk, friendly owners. Nice and quiet, good toilets (though on occasion the water supply to the taps was feeble) and nice clean fresh water tap outside. Would stay again!

Grass primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really lovely owners who were so friendly, helpful and nice to chat to. Site is on a working farm with some horses that we loved meeting. We had loads of space to set our tent up & could have a barbecue too which was great. The site was peaceful but really accessible by road (20 minutes from Milton Keynes where we live) so great for a quick getaway without driving too far - no showers but this isn't an issue if you're staying for a night or two. Toilets and bins were kept clean. We loved walking through the woods from the campsite to Lidlington for a pub lunch at the Green Man too. Thanks so much!
