Liked Great private pitches surrounded by hedging, well maintained grounds and spotlessly clean toilets and showers (loved having the radio played in there!) Perfect location for 1 night stay if travelling North or South along M5 (about a mile from M5 jn11) or multiple nights to explore Cheltenham, Gloucester and the beautiful Cotswolds with great public transport outside the front gate.
This was our 1st time staying at Briarfields, will definitely be returning.
Disliked Would have been handy to have had a 'convenience' store on site (though ASDA is only a 10min walk away) and possibly a bar to enjoy a drink.with fellow campers... but these are only Minor issues and not really 'Dislikes'

From the manager: Thank you so much for your fantastic review Chris. We're absolutely delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your first stay with us. It's wonderful to know you appreciated our private hedged pitches, well-maintained grounds and spotless facilities. Our team work incredibly hard to keep everything looking its best, so your kind comments will certainly make them smile! We're also pleased our location worked so well for you, whether as a convenient stop just off the M5 or as a base for exploring Cheltenham, Gloucester and the beautiful Cotswolds using the excellent public transport right outside the park. Thank you too for your suggestions. Fingers and toes crossed, we're hoping to open our new Orchard Bar & Kitchen later next month/early September, which we're sure will be a welcome addition for guests looking to relax with a drink or a bite to eat. After that, our next project is to create a small convenience shop in reception, so watch this space! It was lovely to read that you're already planning a return visit with relatives. Thank you again for your recommendation and your kind words. Best Wishes, The Briarfields Team

Liked Great sized fully serviced touring pitch... with good strategic hedging to shield from the wind. Staff highly visible with patrols throughout the day and evening, giving reassurance of safety and security. Well maintained site which is very clean.
Disliked Although the shower facilities are very well maintained and clean... the showers had one setting... Boiling Hot!!... which after a day of 34⁰ temperatures, is not really what you want!
The quality of the food, and service provided in the bar/restaurant was very much 'Below Par'. When ordering food informed it was "upto a 30min wait"... meal arrived 57mins later. One meal was 'Scorched' (burnt), and the other meal, the noodles, were just a 'Stodgy Mass' all stuck together. So won't be eating there again.

Liked Great open spaces with good size Pitches, not cramped on top of each other. Mark, the Warden, was very friendly and welcoming. Clean & tidy facilities.
Disliked If it had EHU options & Greywater disposal point score would have been higher. But, for the price p.n... can't really complain!

Liked Great pitch with well maintained grass surroundings. The Shower & Toilet block was immaculately clean, with a nice touch of having Greatest Hits Radio played over the speakers in there👍 All the staff are so friendly and helpful and obviously enjoy working there.
Our 2nd visit there and definitely not our last.
Disliked Nothing to complain about!😀

Liked Easy access, toilet and showers were nice and clean.
Disliked The grass has recently been cut, BUT cuttings were still lying around (so consequently they were ending up in our Motorhome) and the grass was still at least 6-8 inches long.

Liked The view was nice, easy access to EHU & Water on pitch.
Disliked The attitude of the female staff member, who was quite rude and abrupt when shouting across to us and wagging her finger that "Day guests aren't allowed"
It also states 'bar on site'... it was closed

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. Your review follows an incident where your unregistered guests arrived with you for your 1 night stay and looked ready to stay for the duration of your visit. Shortly after your arrival, I greeted you and noticed your additional, unpaid for guests. I gave you the benefit of the doubt at that point that they were staying for a cuppa. I patiently waited for nearly 3 hours your instruction to say that you had altered your occupancy or to gain permission for your guests - and of course offer to pay the additional charge. Our terms - clearly stated before your booking and reiterated on your booking confirmation - state we do not permit day guests. This is not only for safety and insurance reasons, but because our paying guests fund the upkeep of facilities. Allowing non paying guests to use them would be unfair to everyone who books and pays correctly, which is why we apply the same rules to all visitors, especially those who we have never seen before and who are staying 1 night. I waited nearly 3 hours for your guests to leave, but once I saw the wine coming out, I thought it necessary to casually mention as I walked past ' Just a reminder, day guests are not permitted'. Your unauthorised guest flippantly shouted ' we are just leaving'. There was no apology or claim of not knowing the rules - only an aggressive annoyance at being caught. We don't allow freeloaders to use the facilities that are paid for by others. We manage our site, which means we enforce our rules for safety, fairness and respect for the guests who follow our rules. In this situation - there was nothing I could have done not to get a 1/10, but I will certainly not shy away from confrontation. On my site, I will not allow the minority so spoil anything - they just get banned, so that I can keep my prices as low as possible for the majority. I thought about phoning you, texting or possibly just entering your pitch with my card reader and charging you the appropriate tariff. In hindsight - I wish I had done the latter so I wasn't out of pocket on top of having a horrifically low unfair score. Primarily the bar is open weekends (Fri/Sat) and there are higher nightly tariffs for pitches due to this. Occasionally we will open on other nights. If the bar is important to prospective guests then please check on our @taylorstowbar socials. I think we all know that given my supposed finger wagging incident that even if the bar was open - you were not going to use due to you being so hard done by. On a plus - despite the low scores for all our other categories - we can assume that you did not really see any fault in the site as a whole: Wifi Low Score: We do not state that we offer this facility. Cleanliness: No mention of it being unclean or untidy. When you and your unauthorised guests were using our facilities, I could see the 4 of you having a good poke and discussion around the shower/toilet block and bins. It can be assumed that you found no fault otherwise, I'm sure you would have included every detail. Facilities: I assume the bar being closed despite your low tariff of £25 per night for a hardstanding serviced pitch led to this low score. Value for money: Obviously - you wanted 4 people to be included within the tariff you paid for 2 people which has led you to this dissatisfaction. In reality - you saved yourself £10, so I feel you had good value for money. Location: You chose the site based on its location so that is confusing. I can only assume, you are referring to the location of your pitch - to which was not hidden enough for you to do as you pleased. Customer Service: Thank you for your private feedback informed me that I require customer service training. We are aiming to build a really special site with spectacular guests - we filter out all those not suited to the site and ban anyone that is not respectful and well mannered. As a sole trader, I'm fighting back against entitled behaviour that spoils the experience of the majority of our honest guests. If any prospective guests are concerned about this review - then hopefully we have answered any questions you have.

Liked Great location, with excellent facilities. The grounds are kept & maintained perfectly, along with the toilet & shower blocks, which were spotless. The pitches are well spaced with ample room to have an awning. Well stocked shop, and the bar is welcoming with a good selection of food, served in 'Hearty' portions.
