Pods were a good size with…

July 2026

Liked Pods were a good size with electric and although you can’t park alongside, they are a two minute walk at most so not overly impactful. Nice little play area for children and although we didn’t have time to explore, you are able to visit the Boar Park.

Disliked Upon arrival the pod immediately opposite us (a group of 3 youngish adults) was playing club music. As it was directly opposite, this was really jarring. We also then found that there was a wasps nest in the roof of the pod. To their credit the site team did come out and move us to another pod (which was also thankfully slightly quieter as the planting absorbed more of the noise). But perhaps given the wasps were a known issue with that pod, and the fact that we were a family with young children as opposed to 3 young adults, perhaps we should have been in the other pod from the off. The faff of moving pods and being forced to listen to tinny music whilst tipping it down did unfortunately cut into our time and enjoyment given we were only there for one night as a stop over.

Nice little site but could do with more frequent visits by owners

July 2026

Liked Loved the wild back to basics camping vibes. Very quiet mid week and able to pick your own pitch. Plenty of space for children to run about.

Disliked Unfortunately the second time we enquired about hiring a canoe which we had zero response from the owners despite following up twice. This was a shame as we had hired one earlier in the week and had a great time with the children. Appreciate things can get missed or they may have been booked up, but even an acknowledgment after the fact would have been nice. The showers could do with looking at. There’s only two in the camping field and whilst facilities were generally cleanish, there were times multiple toilets had run out of toilet roll, bin by sink was overflowing or the showers were flooded. Oddly we were only checked off by the owner on our last night who seemed surprised we had been there for a week. Whilst it’s good to not have the owners breathing down your neck, this felt a little odd and gave the impression anyone could be coming or going. Overall it was a nice little site in a lovely part of Scotland but perhaps needed more frequent visits by the owners during high season to check off arrivals, respond to enquiries and keep on top of facilities.

Great little site close to fab attractions and impeccably clean

Sept 2024

Liked The site was absolutely impeccable, so much so we actually extended our stay. Bathrooms religiously cleaned, hairdryer in shower block and family bathroom was a godsend with two young children (even locked when children not on the site to prevent misuse). Lovely little play area and pitches were generous, flat and not too far from the toilet block. Site is close to Mevagissy, St Austell, Eden Project, Charlestown and Porthpean. All worth a visit. We will be back!

Disliked Honestly nothing. This is the best site we’ve stayed at this summer since getting back into camping. Some of the previous comments on the free wifi are ridiculous. It’s free and perfectly usable.

Perfect peaceful get away

Aug 2024

Liked Perfect off grid escape with beautiful views. Bags of space to pitch up. You can use your car to unload and then park a few 100m away or so. Having minimal cars made it perfect for my two young sons to crawl and run about without worry. Facilities are basic (as advertised) but kept very clean. The owner popped round everyone early evening to offer firewood for sale if needed. We didn’t take this up as the kids were exhausted from the days fun and already in bed but lots of people did take up the offer and it was nice to see everyone with their little campfires.

Disliked Nothing - just don’t expect phone signal or fancy facilities. This was a very peaceful off grid experience.

From the manager: We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay and like the feeling of the place. We do try to keep it basic as to keep the wild camping feel. We especially try to make it safe for children and pets to play as we are a family friendly campsite. I’m pleased you found the facilities clean enough to comment on. We really do try to keep them clean and always stocked with loo roll. Hope you’ll come again next year.
