Liked We had a good welcome at this site, in fact the manager went to great lengths to help us when we were in need of a replacement tyre for our caravan, researching where we could pick one up as we left the site.
Unfortunately the weather was poor for the 2 days we were here, so we didn’t get to use the pool or other outdoor facilities. The toilet/shower block was good, clean, well equipped.
The town of Chateau le bonnet was within a ten minute walk, it had lots of old, quaint buildings, shops, a bar and great viewpoint from the church at the top of the hill.
We drove out to explore the Loire valley from the site- half an hour drive to many lovely places, Chalmes and Bas en Basset.
Disliked The electricity kept tripping out, we were told it was because of the 6 amp connection. We had no problems on other similar sites, though.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. It was very unfortunate about the tyre , glad we could be of help. Hopefully you will visit us again and you will get to enjoy the pool and our terrace:). Have a wonderful summer. Kind regards, Ronald and Ellen

Power optional grass and gravel site
Liked We were greeted warmly by Celia who said we could choose any pitch out of 12 available. In fact, we were the only people on the campsite for the duration of our stay. This meant we had loads of privacy and peace.
The pitch we chose was good, but was the only one easily accessible with a caravan- motor homes would have found terrain less difficult. Also the path to exit the site was steep, with a large dip in it that we had to scrape gravel in to make our exit easier. Not ideal.
The pool area was lovely, great views and a bar area to have drinks/food or just relax on out of the heat.
The toilet/ shower block needed attention: there were no lights at night, cold water only, no loo seats, loo roll or any evidence of cleaning. Easily the least cared for toilet block we visited of all sites we were at on our holiday.
The location is great for visiting Vallon Pont D’arc and the gorges, but the nearest village of Bessas took us easily 20 mins to walk to and we were disappointed to find no cafe/ bar or anything open at all.
Disliked Toilet Block, difficult access for caravan.

Liked We liked the welcome we received and the smart, attractive layout of the site. We were shown to a pitch that was shady( a good thing with the extreme July temperatures) and not far from the pool area. The pool was great- even had a water slide which we tested out!
There is a restaurant on the site(we didn’t use it as we only stayed one night but heard good things about it. We did use the take away/ snack bar though which we enjoyed.
The showers/ toilets were clean, had loo roll in and toilet seats ! and were of a very good standard.
Disliked Our only disappointment was being asked to leave the pool at 6! All other sites we stayed at were open til 8.

Liked A very friendly welcome on arrival, our pitch was perfect, lots of shade and some sun in the morning. The toilet blocks were the best we’ve seen of the 8 French sites we have recently stayed at- clean, well lit, warm water, toilet paper in all stalls. The pool area was quiet and clean- calm and lovely. We had drinks and meals at the bar area, amazing chips and very polite, pleasant staff. We were helped to book an additional night by lovely man on reception. I Would happily spend a week here. The site is within walking distance of the town of Aubigny sur Nere- beautiful Medieval buildings and lots of lively bars and cafés. We were only sorry that we were not able to stay for the festival to celebrate the links this town has with Scotland..I’m sure we will return.
Disliked we honestly couldn’t think of anything
