Liked Reasonably cheap
Disliked Pub atmosphere was poor although I’m sure it would liven up on the weekend.
Toilet blocks had been cleaned but are in pretty poor state of repair with plaster peeling from the walls & the showers (only two available) were either red hot with low flow or freezing cold with loads of flow.
Biggest downside to this site is the ungodly smell that drifts across from the local waste processing plant, you may be lucky with wind direction but I certainly wasn’t, it knocked me sick and I had to leave a day early.
Unfortunately I think JG Pears of Newark will be the nail in the coffin for this site unless they cease production.

Liked Friendly greeting from owner, located a very short flat walk in to town, well managed grassed areas with free WiFi available. Clean toilets & shower facilities.
Some pitches very slightly sloped but certainly not excessive and certainly not a problem, just remember your levelling chocks.
Nice and quiet in the evenings with very little infrequent traffic transiting access road.

Liked This was first time camping in a van for the female half of the couple, we picked this site based on location and previous reviews.
Pitches are all level and well spaced out, we were met by Ray who was knowledgeable of local area, highly personable and professional.
The toilet/shower blocks although slightly dated in style were immaculately clean and functional with plenty of hot water and toilet roll etc.
2 mins from the site entrance you can be on the expansive flat beach or enjoying a very tasty snack at Betty’s cafe.
There’s a play park right outside the site which is ideal for children to play in without being around the pitches.
Disliked Town is slightly quiet for our tastes but does not distract from the quality of the site.

Liked Nice open field, park where you want.
We were greeted by the owner who advised us to set up wherever we liked, the ablutions although only 1x male, 1x female plus 1x disabled (inc a shower) were kept well stocked and clean throughout.
Short walk to beach access.
Disliked Weather, obviously completely out of the owner’s control though.

Liked Lovely quiet site, zero road noise.
Lovely flat pitches that are well spread out, toilet block is modern and clean. A nice addition is the wet room, it allows you to get out of a sandy wetsuit without getting sand everywhere.
Owner is a very personable guy, who went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed.

Unpowered concrete slab campervan or trailer tent site (large)
Liked Lovely small site, marked out level bays in a quiet location.
Kitchen appliances provided in the communal area so no need to bring a kettle etc.
Really personable staff who go out their way to assist.
Disliked The road leading to the site in a single track with potholes, doesn’t distract from the site itself, just something to be aware of if you’re in a very lowered or very wide vehicle.

From the manager: Hi Thanks for the review and love the VW. We hope that Lancashire highways department will sort out the lane soon which will make the journey to us a little smoother. PS. The van was extremely low though!!!!!!!!!

Liked Very welcoming staff, toilet facilities are centrally located, clean, warm and played Smooth FM.
Quite a small site with a friendly feel. Launderette facilities for only £1, really good value compared to other sites we have stayed at. Free wifi.
Disliked £1 for a shower (should this not be free???).....some of the pitches are on a very slight slope (not a problem with even small levelling chocks).

Liked Good clean site, the washroom facilities were immaculate. We were the only ones in the touring area so had the pick of where to pitch. Due to the really bad weather in the few days proceeding our visit, the pitches themselves seemed a little soft & we were advised to park on the hard standing which I preferred anyway. The onsite pub had a good selection of goo food available, it was most welcoming with the large open fire. The Guinness I had lived up to the expectation of good beer, the pub obviously clean their lines regularly.
