Liked Really nice campsite. The pitches are very spacious and the facilities were clean with plenty of showers and toilets so we didn't need to queue at any point. It's in a great location.
Everyone at the site was respectful and not noisy, an improvement on some campsites we've stayed at before where people were noisy late into the night and then very early in the morning. Would definitely recommend!
Disliked Nothing!

Piggy Back unpowered grass tent site
Liked The views from the pitch and seeing the lambs so close to the tent was amazing. The pitch was spacious and it it felt secluded and quiet.
The owners have clearly put a lot of work into the glamping feel and the main part of the site. The main part of the site is definitely somewhere I'd recommend.
Disliked The distance to the facilities was just too far to be comfortable. It was quite a way and was downhill there and uphill back. The road is not lit at night and I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable if I needed to use the toilet in the night. I wouldn't be able to recommend that field to anyone simply because the toilets are too far away. I would have loved a simple composting toilet or something just to be able to use at bedtime.
The toilets closest to Piggy Back Field are not the ones in the photos on pitch up, they are not modern like the ones in the photos, they are much further down within the rest of the site. There's nothing wrong with these facilities, it's just not what is shown on the photos.
For some reason, only one shower out of the three was in use when we stayed so we had to wait while the other showered before walking back up together.
Our field felt very separate from the main site.

From the manager: Thank you for joining us here at Humble Bee Farm during a busy Bank Holiday weekend. We appreciate that you chose to stay with us in Piggy Back Field campsite, which has stunning views over the Yorkshire Wolds, which is a naturally hilly area in North Yorkshire. Piggy Back Field offers spacious pitches and lots of space for families and couples, so they can relax and recharge. The facilities onsite include toilets, showers, wash up area, shop and reception, The Hive café bar, the indoor play area, the Farmyard Gang and the hen house, which are all within walking distance of Piggy Back. We opened Piggy Back in 2024 and so far we’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback and rarely has the distance from the site facilities from Piggy Back been mentioned. We have also put clear signage in place as to where the facilities are located and we even provide a map for guests when they check in at reception so they know where everything is. Just so readers of this review are aware, we have two toilet blocks here at Humble Bee Farm. We can confirm that we have put the correct photos on the listing for the main site camping/electric hook up area. These facilities were recently modernised and any of our guests can use them. The facilities which are closer to Piggy Back include two toilet cubicles with washbasins; three showers with wash basins; a wash up area. While these are not a big as the main facilities, they are always kept very clean and are closer to Piggy Back and therefore are more convenient than the main site ones, and are pictured on the correct listing. Regarding your comment about the showers not being in use: as mentioned there are three showers in the ones near Piggy Back and these are contained within spacious cubicles. If there are any queries as to which showers are in use, then staff, who are onsite from 7am in the morning, are more than happy to help with a query. We can confirm all three showers were in use later in the Bank Holiday Weekend. Just as a last comment, reception is open daily between 9am and 5pm, where help and advice is readily given. FAQs on the Humble Bee Farm website which provides answers to many questions. This includes recommending campers in Piggy Back bringing a small camping toilet if they can. We thank you again for your comments and feedback, from everyone at Humble Bee Farm.

Liked The location is amazing, great views all around the campsite. The bathrooms are so nice, clean and the showers were nice and hot (with shampoo, shower gel and conditioner provided)!
The hosts of the campsite were great and helped us with any questions and provided us a cable to charge our power banks from the electric hook up.
The sunsets were amazing and the stars are so visible on a night.
Disliked The washing up area was not covered and was quite low down. It made it difficult to use especially when it was raining.
We would have liked a little more space between us and the neighbouring tents as it did get a little bit noisy at time.
But we would still definitely recommend this site! We had a great stay!

Liked Friendly host, modern and clean bathrooms with shower gel, washing up room with washing up liquid and tea towels available (this was great as we'd forgot ours!), great views and lots of potential pitching areas for future visits. The washing up room also had an honesty corner for sweets and things you might need.
Disliked The road up to the site was a bit of a challenge for our little car but we got there.

Liked The location was great, lovely views of the sea and mountains.
The bathrooms weren't spotless but we're fine for what we needed.
The beach is only a 10 minute walk away and there's a lovely pub in the village.
Disliked There was no guidance about pitching up and a family were let on the site at 10.30pm, pitched their tent far too close to ours, kept up awake that night and then spoke loudly at 7am each morning waking us up.
Toilets and showers could have been cleaner and the decking outside the ladies is broken.

Liked The location was great and the site has lovely views.
Ladies toilets and showers were great.
Disliked My partner said the men's toilets weren't that nice, and we're a bit cramped. And then for some reason the pot wash area is really low. The sinks are so low that my partner had to kneel down to use them.
Would have preferred a hook in the ladies toilet as I hung my bag on the door handle and when someone tried to open it, my bag dropped and broke my mirror.
